Stony Stratford FC looking to increase management team.

Recommended Posts

Stony are looking for 1 or 2 people to join the management team. The team itself are on the rise and are doing well picking up results against some good opposition.

New management took over earlier in the season and are looking to bolster the team and possibly players too.

Various different options available so if you are interested in getting involved please contact me on my email of ja564@hotmail.com.

Thanks

I wondered why the Club's fortunes had changed since the Haynes family jumped ship, that explains it

Director of Football at this level might seem a bit pretentious, but I know Dan's role is more than a match day helper.

My understanding (as a previous manager at the club) is to have an overview over all football at the club, from the youngest youth team up to the men's first team. To set the direction, keep managers in line with that direction and provide advice and support where required.

Basically it is to do the operational role the chairman isn't in the position to do. It isn't all about player acquisition (as per pro clubs) but still has an important role at a club like stony.

That is my understanding anyway!

Very well put. From my short time knowing him he always worked tirelessly behind the scenes at Buckingham Town. I doubt they would have survived without his input.

Dan has seen the discussion on this forum and has asked me (as he isn't a member) to post the following on his behalf:

"I appreciate that some people would feel that a title such as "Director of Football" at this level of football is slightly pretentious, my role as I see it is to be a constant influence throughout the club at a time where managers and players come and go freely and often times clubs are only as good as the players their current manager can attract.

I arrived at the club in the summer of 2013 when just weeks from the start of the season SSTFC didn't have a manager or any players due to the issue outlined above, we worked hard to get managers and players for both teams and eventually scraped through, we struggled in 13/14 to get two sides out at times, let alone two competitive sides but we got through it. In 14/15 we are now having to leave players out of the reserve team match day squads due to player numbers and quality, this represents progress in itself but if I'm being honest I don't believe the fruits of our labour will be properly represented for at least 2 more years.

We are a club who's facilities are not considered up to standard despite the fact they are our own and we have never ground shared etc. we have plans in place and now reasonable quotations to meet those plans but time is not particularly on our side. Stony is a club that is in my heart having played for a pretty successful youth team here many years ago and I won't rest until the club has the necessary facilities and football structure to maintain its position as a local force in MK and surrounding areas.

I was being slightly facetious.

if I have read that correctly, Seems to be an acknowledgement in his comment that pressure is on to meet ground requirements by the March deadline.

Not sure the club have had anything official, but you know as well as I do that should the FA REALLY impose the ground requirements, stony would be in trouble as it currently stands simply due to the need for a "secure walkway" from the changing rooms to the pitch. As I say, I am not in the know as to any communication about this though.

I would have thought, however, that a number of clubs might need to make changes to reach the requirement?...

Do we know whether the FA are actually going to enforce this for next season? It seems it has been a bit of a hollow threat over this level of football for nearly a decade...

They been threating Stony for ages but doubt they will do anything. Stony have historically always been competitive, they have floodlights so unless they finish bottom they will remain where they are. Hopefully changing rooms etc will get sorted one day, potentially a strong MK club there, could look at doing what Buckingham Ath have done with changing rooms by building next to stand.

I think there are plans to do something to move the changing rooms closer.

I know from playing/being involved in the UCL with a number of clubs, it is not just stony who have been threatened for years (and I doubt they are the only team in the South Mids).

Addressing your other point about MK football, agree there is definitely room/a place for a step 6 club. Still mystifies me why there aren't more sides (successful or not) at that level or above in MK, there are only Stony, Newport Pagnell and Buckingham Town.

I compare it to Northampton (a smaller town) which has 2 decent step 5 sides (Sileby and Cogenhoe) and 2 decent step 6 sides (Spencer and Chenecks). With loads more (bugbrooke, long buckby, Rushden and diamonds, Wellingborough town etc) in a less than 10 mile radius.
