The draw for the 4th Round (QF) of the Surrey Senior Cup is to be made live on Friday 23 January on BBC Radio Surrey at 7.50 a.m.

Ashford, Colliers Wood and Molesey are already through, and may be joined by Westfield, if they can beat Redhill plus Badshot Lea, if they can overcome Corinthian-Casuals.  The latter match has been delayed as Corinthian-Casuals are in Brazil.  Westfield and Redhill will try again next Tuesday 27 Jan.

Anyone at Westfield know what's happening with this Redhill match?

Doesn't sound like Redhill are too happy about it - http://www.surreymirror.co.uk/Redhill-boss-frustrated-Westfield-cup-game/story-25894243-detail/story.html

Our understanding, at Westfield, is somewhat different to that of the Redhill management. That being said there is one thing that surely can be agreed on is that neither Redhill, nor ourselves, has yet been in a position to host this tie.

Fingers crossed for Tuesday

Westfield were poor? Says the manager of a team 2nd bottom of their league, maybe he should look a little closer to home. See they have just signed Bennett from Farnborough so would imagine the money he pays is a darn sight more than Westfield pay theirs.

Also maybe he should know competition rules being the excellent manager he sells himself as.

Westfield got off lightly only being called poor. Back in 2008 when Surrey Legends / TC's Frimley Green beat high-flying Redhill 2-1 in the FA Vase, Frimley Green were called a pub side - their Chairman then stated that Redhill were the main team in the area and others like South Park, Mertsham & Whyteleafe could only ever be Village teams. They do seem to possess an arrogance not matched by others. Best not upset them too much as they'll probably be CCL bound at the end of the season  ;)

A lot of you know me on here, but for those that don't I'm Westfield's assistant manager. Those that know me will know that I'm a fairly honest bloke and as people are asking I feel it's only right to respond on behalf of the club.

Firstly, the tie was due to be played at Redhill on 7th January - this was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. Redhill contacted our secretary and asked to switch to our place, which we did, only to be foiled by the weather again the following week. They then asked us to play at Whyteleafe and wanted to split the cost - this being £180 to us. We declined the offer, which is our prerogative and were then due to play at Westfield again on Tues 20, but this time a frozen pitch put paid to it. The tie was still at our place last Saturday, but as our game was off on that day and with the forecast at that stage saying rain on Monday and Tuesday, we asked our secretary to contact Redhill and move it back to their ground, which they accepted.

We'd had Redhill watched when we first drew them and then had them watched again more recently. Reports back to us highlighted the fact that they had a number of different players from the first game, so I took it upon myself to look into it. It wasn't difficult to find info on it as their manager obviously enjoys seeing his name in the Surrey Mirror and there were a couple of articles in that paper relating to new signings. One look at the Ryman league website confirmed six new signings since the tie was supposed to have taken place. I made a note of the names and after discussing it as a management team, I double checked the rules with our secretary who confirmed that players have to be signed seven days prior to the original tie. We had one new signing ineligible for last night so didn't take him - a club at that level should know the rules and they clearly didn't. I'm of the opinion that you seek any advantage and so I spoke to the FA rep last night and passed him the list of those six players when he got their team sheet. He returned to our dressing room five minutes later with the Redhill manager who had five of those players on his team sheet. Basically what followed was the Redhill manager blaming everyone but his club and at one stage saying they wouldn't play. He then talked the officials into an 8pm kick off - 30 mins later than planned - while he got another three players in as he had 10 of his named 15 ready to go. Once the game got underway we weathered a decent first 5 mins and a spell of 10 mins just before the break, bar that we were very comfortable and if it had been 4 or 5 there could have been no complaints. If that's poor then I'll take it.

I've never been one for going on about missing players as I'm a believer in it gives others a chance, so the Redhill manager going on about his five missing players doesn't wash with me. Dan Bennett is a good player, but I don't really know the others. I could go on about our missing players last night - there were 6 who could all legitimately start for us - but I won't for the reason I've mentioned above. Our lads were very solid and carried a threat and that was more than enough to win the game.

When the game finished, the assistant manager came and shook hands, but the manager just walked off, which I think shows where he is positioned. His antics throughout the game were pathetic to be honest and he should definitely be embarrassed.

There will be the odd person who will question me providing that list, but to be honest I don't care. My only concern last night was Westfield winning with as much style and class as is possible and I think we achieved that on a tricky surface against what was hard working opposition.

A word too for the officials who were very good. There was a lot of rubbish floating about before and during the game from their manager and they didn't let it affect them whatsoever - I was really impressed.

Anyway, we move on to Saturday and a trip to Chipstead to play Epsom and Ewell.

Fair play to Westfield for doing their research. The rules are the same for all clubs and ignorance of them is not a defence. Any senior club should be doing due diligence prior to any cup match, as each competition has its own rules.

I read the Surrey Mirror article and if I were a Redhill player who took part in the game, I'd be mightily hacked off. If you go on record as saying you lost to a "poor side" instead of giving a bit of credit to the opposition and accentuating the positives in your own team's performance, then you're not going to do much for squad morale!

Ah the famous FA Vase run beat Bookham after a replay, then Redhill followed by a 1-0 win over Binfield, where I played my first game for over a year and we just seemed to defend for 85 minutes after taking the lead, before we went out to VCD Athletic after a replay.

Back to the tool at Redhill.  Never met or seen the guy but when you read the articles on the paper's website all you see is whinge whinge whinge.

This sums them up

Back in September they whilst in the middle of a bad run ( the manager wrote is his website notes each week blaming various keepers ) they hosted Corinthian Casuals.

It was a match Casuals were always in control of and half way through the second half with the visitors 2-1 up the ref collapsed after being stung by a wasp.

The game was delayed for around half an hour with an ambulance arriving but Ryman rules state the game must finish. Redhill were going mad the manager at the centre of it. All 3 of their fans were as vocal too. In the end the Redhill secretary at the time took the linesman flag to allow the game to continue. I heard as did everyone else him being asked to cheat on decisions by not only the manager but the players and people off the pitch.

Thankfully the stand-in assistant was a man of integrity and gave a perfect honest performance.

The game finished 3-2 to the visitors and the moaning started again.

Later that week the secretary was sacked !
