As I write Molesey have advised us that the frost has gone from the pitch, so presume that the pitch is currently playable and it will probably be a game time decision by the match ref when they get there.

Farnham v MVSCR OFF

Still cannot understand why the referee called the game off???

Pitch, for once was definitely playable and the ref and the female assistant were in agreement to play the game and then one of the 'older generation' assistants arrived............spoke to the ref................game off!!!  Then stood there saying it was the refs decision; he must think we cannot see and hear what was being discussed!  Obviously the cold was affecting him!?!  Wish for once that someone from the league was in attendance to give an opinion.

Fantastic performance from Windsor tonight.

I was expecting a bit of a rough ride but we completely dominated them. Could have been 10 but for Highmoor's keeper. I assume that was a weakened team they put out but that wouldn't take anything much away from an excellent win.

Bedfont Sports 0 Hanwell Town 4 (Headcount Around 25)

OG Num 5, Con.Duffy, G.Davis, T.Inch (First Goal For The Club I Think)

We should have scored more goals tonite to be honest but the Bedfont keeper made some good saves and we didn't make the most of some good chances. But we were by far the better team against a young looking Bedfont Sports team who did look decent when they were on the attack but very weak when they had to defend.

Its a shame that the very nice new stand behind the goal was not in use    as The Hanwell Town Massive wanted to sit or should I say stand in it and sing :woot: Get the stand open as its a waste to have it looked up :grumble:

The pitch was a bit heavy in places but held up well to be honest

The programme was p*ss poor  :grumble:  but they have a nice clubhouse with plenty of TVs

Was told by three different Bedfont Sports people tonite before the game that they didn't give a sh*t about the Middlesex Cup

Anyway good luck to Bedfont Sports FC for the rest of the season.

:seeyah:

The match report from our defeat at Molesey is here:

Molesey are a very good side. They wore us down and although two late goals were harsh on us, over the ninety minutes it was a fair score line. Good luck to them in the next round.

Savagebee, why are you having a go at Bedfont Sports about their programme? Why would any club produce a sizeable issue when so many games are in doubt?

Maybe you have delusions of grandeur now you are up in Step Four but don't forget where you came from and where Hanwell have been for all but one year of their existence.

You do raise one interesting point however, regarding County Cups. They have become massively devalued in recent years and to use Surrey as an example, everyone remaining in it with exception of Met Police are step four or five now. Whilst it does give clubs of our level an opportunity to win a competition that would have been beyond their reach in the past, it is not so long ago that the big boys were exempt, ensuring more qualifying matches and a genuine sense of achievement when you reached the last 16 and a guaranteed decent crowd. Additionally, it wasn't such a drain on fixtures for the bigger clubs as two wins got you to the Semi Finals. Nowadays it can be four which is often why you see higher ranked sides rotating their squad for these matches.

Clearly something needs to be done here and I would start by bringing the fixtures back to a Saturday. Yes the games are local and it may appear logical to play them midweek, but we are losing the tradition a bit and these competitions will soon be placed in the same category as the Southern Combination Cup; a nicely run event and a piece of silverware that you'd like to win, but only if you have nothing else important to worry about.
