Billericay Town Unofficial
Take two. Billericay Town v Brightlingsea Regent Essex Senior Challenge Cup, Quarter-Final. Monday 19 January 2015, 7:45pm. I'd expect any details of a pitch inspection to appear on Twitter. The forecast is for the weather to remain dry and the temperature to get no warmer than 3ºC so there is the threat of the pitch becoming frozen. The pitch held up quite well on Saturday but the ground staff were working on it yesterday. The patch in front of the Cow Shed did look quite bad at half time. GazzaBTFC
But we are only a pub team from Essex...
Barry Proudfoot
Id be extremely surprised if there ISNT a pitch inspection later. Our pitch is an embarrassment, and we are fortunate enough to have a manager who sets his teams up to battle and fight for victories. If we tried to play football on that mud heap which so many of the main stand moaners demand, then we'd surely be in a relegation scrap. I know we are in 'the valleys' or whatever you call it, and there is clay all about the place, however a bit of transparency would be good here. If supporters knew how much it would cost to get our pitch back and how much maintenance and upkeep of a playable pitch would be, then perhaps we could try and raise the money as a collective on a basis of upholding a decent playing surface. I don't want to knock the effort of those involved in the pitch, quite frankly its a thankless task, however it would be nice to what we as supporters can do to help, and also what is needed to be done to improve the state of our pitch? you never know one of two of us might know someone who knows someone or could pull in a favour or two. GazzaBTFC
I think the Craig has the patience of a saint at times... Not only for those that appear to think that we should be playing the beautiful game on our pitch but also scrapping around for places to go to train Not that I think our pitch is any worse than it has been in other seasons... Actually I quite enjoy a good scrap on a heavy surface... A bugger for the players but like Saturday's game, a pitch battle ( pun alert) between two side is just one facet of the game... But hey, that is just a personal view
