I know I'm going to be pounced on about this but what about a fourth striker !

You can't keep 4 quality strikers happy when there's only 2 places to fight for. You ideally need a decent youngster or a midfielder who can play up top.

I know Bakes and Unders favour two strikers but there's nothing stopping you playing three strikers or four come to that.

Ed Smith and Johnny Dyer are class footballers, they do not have to play as out and out forwards. All three of the forwards we have, currently, can play in midfield or 'in the hole'.Scott Harris even doubles up as a defender.

I take your point,on the practical level and of course, the expense of having four but sometimes I think we run out of ideas if Smithy or Johnny are off their game.

To be honest I would use Jake Parsons as a fourth striker, when needed. He knows how to score and can go past a defender.

Any potential problem of a fourth striker sorted then.

As i think has been said by Unders, whilst we are not ruling out the playoffs it will be a very tough ask......

So when we are essentially looking to build for next season is it not better to wait for the right players to become available rather than try and get players in who will just sit on the bench?

This season is over in effect that we're pretty much safe from relegation and are too many pound off the play offs. So building for next season now makes sense to bed any new players in. Adam Martin and Luke Williams are two decent players already added, maybe another couple along with the full comebacks of Foulser and Warren Harris and we should have a very good squad capable of challenging for a play off place next season.

It's a guarantee that if any new players are brought in they will not be here just to sit on the bench.

As quoted by Bakes and Unders, any new players signed will be considered to be either as good as or better than we currently have.

You know what I'm trying to say Mark. No one believes we can make the PO this season and we've got a big cushion from the relegation places so yes obviously try and finish as high as possible but in reality it's a season of consolidation. Next season there will be slightly more pressure to improve and push on.

Thats my exact point.....If the players arent available we arent going to increase our numbers unnecessarily

If this season is over we might as well all stay in bed on match days. It's not over until it's mathmatically impossible to make play offs. A few years back Terry Brown's Hayes team went from secod from bottom to winning the league.

But Mark44, nobody has suggested that we are going to sign players for the sake of it just to sit on the bench.

If we were to bring in players now with a view to next season, those players would only be at least of the quality we have now.
