Balham I'm guessing would share at your place Chris, but Abbey Rangers? No way could they come up playing at Addlestone Moor.

The situation at Wibbandune is that Esher FC (Kingston & District League) are officially ground-sharing and Balham FC play on another pitch which is roped off with dugouts. Balham U18's (midweek) play on our main pitch and Balham 1st XI use the main pitch if and when Us and Esher are away.

I have no idea what plans Balham have for next season.

I thought they had everything done except floodlights erected which they have paid for. I may be wrong.

Tooting & Mitcham Wanderers share at Whyteleafe so they're alright but only one team can get promoted from each step 7 league and they have to finish in the top 5. T&MW are currently sixth.

Abbey Rangers have VP? News to me if they have. The pitches there (bar the 7 and 9 a side) are all at least 50 metres from the clubhouse as well. I cannot see how they could get in without a groundshare.

I went to Abbey Rangers in pre-season & there was talk then that work was being done to their ground this season to get it up to scratch for a push to Step 6. I'm not sure how far they have got with that but it would seem whatever plans they had are being put into action.

Highmoor Ibis from the Thames Valley Premier League (old Reading League) is actually a reserve side looking to get into the Hellenic Div 1 but I suspect that would be dependent on their First Team getting promoted from the Hellenic Premier.

How long do these sides have to get their grounds up to the required deadline?

It must cost T & M W a lot of money to share at Whyteleafe each season. Does seem an odd situation to spend that sort of money on what is currently little more than a park side.

Its crazy, I know Lyne FC who were in the Guildford and Woking Alliance last year and finished 2nd or 3rd I think so hardly setting the world on fire ground share with Chertsey Town and have done for the past 2 or 3 seasons!?!?!?!?

Step 7 to step 6 promotion from the FA handbook:

Step 7 - Clubs competing at Step 7 must comply fully with the minimum requirements in force. To be considered for promotion to Step 6, Clubs must meet the requirements of Grade H and attain Grade G by 31st March in the year following promotion. Clubs can be promoted from Step 7 to 6 without floodlights provided that all other requirements of Grade H are met by 31st March in the Playing Season in which the Club wishes to gain promotion and that the Club has the following in place:-

• Planning permission for floodlights

• Funding applications submitted if required

• Quotations/estimates for the work to be carried out

• A development/business plan

• That by 30th September following promotion the floodlights are installed and in working order.

Failure to install floodlights in working order by 30th September following promotion

will result in a sanction being imposed at the discretion of the League of which the Club

is a member. If by 31st March in the year following promotion the floodlights are still not

installed then the Club will be a relegated Club and be dealt with accordingly.

With regards to the Balham we at Horlsey played them at their ground this season we had to walk over or round three pitches where we then played on a roped off pitch with put up  plastic benches ,but  i know they do play some games  normally on a friday evening on Colliers wood pitch but i do believe you have to ground share for a whole season before gaining entry to the C.C. , I might be wrong I'm sure someone here can put me right. Abbey rangers have lots of work to do as Powelly said earlier but if they moved their pitch nearer clubhouse and changed the lights round this could effectively be possible , and i have heard from one of their players this is going to happen. i will say both of these teams are capable of competing in div 1 of C.C. and both teams have some class in their sides. At Horsley we have applied for lights but it came back and we have had to re-apply which we have done so are awaiting the decision sometime this month our chairman had a meeting and said what point would it be of applying to C.C as the new guide lines from FA state lights must be in by and working by September if planning passed , as a lot of you know we have had a 3g training area built and this went way over budget (beware of this those thinking of doing this, as we are talking tens of thousands) and any money we had for lights has now gone so we are starting now on raising the funds, so for us I'm afraid its another season before we can apply . I have been in touch with Alan Constable on numerous occasions and believe me he is trying his best to get teams up and bolster div 1, but he as all leagues are governed by the FA and they will not budge on the rules which depends on way you look seem harsh for teams wanting to improve.

Interested to see if VW can get lights as I thought that had always been an issue there Ellers. Great if they do as that could be a decent set up there.

Horsley would be a fantastic set up if they could get lights, etc. I know they're doing all they can as Gary has said. Both of those grounds have the usual resident issues unfortunately.
