v Weymouth

First half was the best we have been this season..............we tired second half (understandably) but still got most things right , especially  at the back, not giving much for Weymouth strikers to go for.

Good debut for the new keeper and great return for Adam M. who bossed most situations he was in.

MOTM...............probably Scott Harris for tireless running and effort tho Ed Smith a close second.

Southern League sit gave all three to ED !

Roll on Tuesday !!

Not sure we tired but just had to keep it tight, not concede and hit on the break which is what we did.

Probably should have scored another couple of goals.

What a performance!!

Arguably the best all round team performance this season.

The work-rate of Ed Smith and Hatchett up front was superb not giving the Weymouth defense a moments peace.

Adam Martin ran the midfield and our defense was rock solid, hardly giving the Muff attackers a look in all game.

A truly excellent team performance.

My MOTM was between Ed Smith and Adam Martin for two quite exceptional performances.

COYR!!!

Slough were superb today.Loved the formation.

Suits the players we have but must say Ryan Parsons is an unlikely left wing back. but for me

he just about edged Man Of The Match !

That said his brother Jake worked his socks off and is a great player to have in the team.He also had a blinder today.

.....and of course, there's Ed Smith, what a class act he is.Three goals worth the entrance fee alone!

The only reason he isn't my MOTM ,is because the work rate and sheer effort of Ryan Parsons.

To be honest, didn't think any of the Slough team played bad and you could name any of the side for determination and effort,so we deservedly got the 3 points.

I suppose we could say that we've played Weymouth when they've hit a rocky spell. and the pitch wasn't the best to suit their game but that would be unfair to how well our lads played today.

We were the best team on the day.

Just a quickie on our two new players .Thought Luke Williams made two commendable saves and got lucky with a poor pass out, that could have resulted in a goal to our opponents.Overall, though,he looked a confident goalkeeper, which we will need.

Adam Martin to me,had a steady game.Nothing special but nothing wrong.Played deeper than his natural position but worked hard in this role.A good debut under Bakes and Unders.

Gone to bed happy !

So difficult to pick a MOTM after such a magnificent team performance. Williams did what he had to do well and apart from one nervy moment (which turned into a interesting bit of skill) looked steady throughout. The energy of Fraser and Ryan parsons was astonishing and both of them were still charging forward in the 90th minute as they were in the 1st. Hollis, Jeffreys and yorke through themselves in front of the ball time after time and ensured that whenever Weymouth did look dangerous it was snuffed out immediately. Edwards has been a revelation over the last few weeks and as Ian says above is a shoe in starter for every game at the moment and then what a (third) debut from Martin who ran the game from midfield including the defence splitting pass which started the move for the second. Scott Harris, as has been the way for the whole season, continues to show what we maybe didn't see last year with power and hold up play which frightened the life out of their defence. Smith was at his very best yesterday although I did only see him score one goal (missed the first and the second was the clearest, most obvious, most blatant own goal you will ever see) but the one I did get to witness was pure class although massive praise had to go to Edwards who chased and harassed their player all the way back to win the ball. But for me, one player had possibly his best performance ever in a slough shirt and that was jake parsons. What a great tonic it has been seeing him seemingly back to full fitness and showing us the player we thought we were signing 3-4 years ago. The greatest compliment from yesterday was that he reminded me of warren Harris, tormenting the Weymouth defence while having the energy to assist the defence when needed and start attacks from deep. Plus his cross with the outside of his foot for the second was sublime.

Weymouth did not offer any sort of threat that I expected but I think a lot of that has to be put down to the way we harassed and harried them for 90 minutes and didn't give them a chance to settle on the ball.

Hope we can replicate the energy and drive for a game of similar magnitude but for differing reasons. COYR!!!

Fantastic result and performance. Managers got it spot on tactically and the players delivered 1 to 11, it was an absolute pleasure to watch.

And yes, I think we had a little insight into why Steve Easterbrook ended up as a chairman and not a player! Still, if in doubt....

I heard more than once after the game that we'll probably go and lose to Burnham now. Up to the players and us as fans to keep the same level of intensity for the derby game. COYR!

Superb performance and result. Think it was more ya being superb than Weymouth being poor. Ran the show for pretty much the whole game. I struggled with mom but would have to toss a coin to decide between ed and Ryan p.

How good is it to have Adam martin back. Different level. If sear can get and stay fit, that midfield partnership will be one of the best (if not the best) in the league.

I don't want to undermine the Slough performance, as everyone has said it was superb but I do think Weymouth were not quite at their best due to having three new players to bed in and they were also missing their influential player in Chris Shepherd.

Also the timing of our goals knocked the confidence of the fragile Weymouth defence, after their jittery defeat against Paulton, they looked nervous.Had they got a goal back early, things may have been different.

Glad to say we well worth the win, though.

Yes and we had 2 to bed in, a different formation and the most obvious one is we never let them play.

How come when teams beat us it's because they played better and if we win it's they've had an off day.

RUBBISH WE NEVER LET THEM INTO THE GAME FROM THE START UNTIL THE FINAL WHISTLE.

You can only beat whats in front of you. I think that we had loads more in the tank and if Muff had been at their best it would have been an absolute corker. 2nd half I thought we were calm and professional and got the balance between protecting the lead and further attacking spot on. Sometimes you get the timing just right . If they had got a penalty and made it 2-1 just before we made it 3-0 how different a game would it have been.

Some of our best performances against top sides have been when we have gone out 5-3-2. Not suitable for all occasions but good call from the Managers when they do. Agree with Radders , Jake was brilliant yesterday. Almost as good as when he came on against Margate in the same formation and was outstanding. He seems at his best when he plays just inside an overlapping wing back and ironically becomes a more effective attacker when he also has a bigger defensive job to do.

Great performance yesterday, I thought every player was outstanding but mom for me would be Guy Hollis. Have to agree also on Jake Parsons. When he plays slightly more central he can be devastating and scares the s**t out of defenders with his direct running. Just one other little thing, does anyone own an iron?? Some of the shirts had more creases than a bulldog's face!!
