surprise when I heard it especially as the conversation took a while to get to the big news.

all the best to Jake

fair play to the managers for making another tough decision. in the past they seem to have gone well and proves we have the ambition to be as good as we can be instead of sitting and being happy with what we have

I don't think any fan saw that coming! Somers has been great for the club and it's a shame but if we want to be challenging for promotion next season maybe he wasn't quite upto that level? Not sure if I'm allowed to comment on new signings... but he's young, played at this level and has obviously impressed our management, so I'll await with interest to watch him.

Best of luck to Jake, a terrific lad and an important part of the play off winning side last season.

You only have to look at our last two games to see how teams are targeting him. I think he's found it tough at times this year with more physical teams delivering better set pieces into dangerous areas. I think our defending all round in those situations can improve though, and I'm sure it will.

Tough call for the managers I'm sure. He's very young for a keeper and I'm sure he'll come back better than ever.

Brave but risky decision on letting Jake Somerville go but as Bakes says, Jake may still be seen in a Slough shirt again.

Luke Williams is obviously well rated and must be worth a look at. Can't judge him as not seen him play but am a little hesitant that he's hardly any bigger than Jake.

To me Alexander Gogic proved how fruitful it can be to have bigger keeper between the sticks. If Jake had a weakness this season, then it has been his decision making on crosses and his erratic punching and catching of the ball. That said I'm sorry to see Jake leave, as to me,it isn't the priority to strengthen the goalkeeping position this season and he has proved how good a shot stopper/goalie he can be.

Also he is a very a likeable, lad who has been a credit to our club.

Still,the managers know best.

Just from watching Jake before and after games it did seem that Jake was enjoying his football as much as last season and the beginning of this season. Also think it doesn't help keepers when you don't have a settled defensive partnership which we had at the start of the season because of injuries.

Wish Jake all the best for the future

Didn't expect this one at all. I hope Somers comes back to us at some stage as he's a great guy and part of the club.

On the positive side it's fantastic we have managers prepared to make really tough decisions on players, even those they've worked with for a long time. It was something Steve Bateman was especially poor at in my opinion.

Certainly shocking but it shows that the managers are willing to make changes to improve the squad if someone isn't performing to the standards they expect. That takes a lot especially considering how close the group is.

Hopefully Jake can go and enjoy his football again and who knows maybe he will come back to us a better player at some point in the future. It also seems like our managers have recruited a good replacement too.
