Recommended Posts

Came second in the pub quiz last night, any of these ones would have pushed us up into joint 1st - we really need a music expert.

1. Which band did Vince Clark leave 20 years ago?

2. What was the 500th UK no.1 single?

3. Which product had the slogan "born in 1820 and still growing strong?

I'll see if I can remember the others later

Very quick with the Depeche mode there ESG.

We thought Budweiser, or Jack Daniels but it was neither. (I may have got the phrase ever so slightly wrong, but it was something very similar to that)

Can't remember any of the others we got wrong, so try some I got right.

4. What is the first bird mentioned in the bible? (don't say Eve!)

5. What was the name of the puppet 10 year old boy who was an international spy?

6. Name the 2 members of Shakespeare's sister?

7. Name the boat that was hijacked on the Mediterranean in 1985?

8. Who was the longest serving leader of a British political party when he died in 1999?

9. Who is in charge of US economic policy (Not the treasury secretary)?

From the official DM website...

Depeche Mode first rose to prominence in 1980, comprising of four original members - Martin Gore, David Gahan, Vince Clarke and Andrew Fletcher. After his departure in 1981, Vince Clarke was replaced by Alan Wilder and the line-up that saw Depeche Mode grow into one of the most important British bands of the 80’s and ‘90’s, remained unchanged until 1995 when Wilder too decided to leave. The remaining trio continue as Depeche Mode to this date.

I'm right.

Again.

Nicole apparently, although I had to check that cos I was in the toilet when he announced the answers last night.

Does anyone know if the North Pole is exactly 500,000,000 inches from the South Pole? It was a true or false question. The barman claimed it was true, but he had to let people who wrote false have a point as well, because he couldn't remember where he'd read it! (He was very drunk by this point)
