Where there is a council involvement, any resident/votor in that council area has a right to ask questions.

Don't forget that ALL local councils are covered by 'The Freedom of Information Act'.

Public money = Taxes = Council Income = Costs all/some of the Community sports facility.

Still far to much Secret Squirrel with this project.

Sports grants DofE land and money.

Ok ask them about the new Curve or about west wing and you'll prob get the same answers.so no Secrets.

The reason I am keen to find out what is going on is to see if we will be pushing for promotion as we will have a ground fit to go to the next level, or if we will have another year of treading water as SYCOBS ground is not fit for us to go up.

Another year where not a sod has been dug or a brick laid - yes some paperwork has been done, but you cant play football on paperwork.

It's our second season at this level after finishing 16th previously so I think 99.9% will fully expect another season of 'treading'. There's no guarantee if we were starting this season in our new ground that promotion would be possible as it'll take time to build a capable squad. We may well double our home crowds overnight playing in Slough but that's not to say every single extra penny will go into the first team squad as being a community club once back there will be other expenses to think of

Of course Glen is right.

You have only to look around at the other clubs in our division, especially the wealthier clubs, they are all strengthening big time. Even the so called mid table clubs are trying to make a push for the play offs, so with a bit of luck another year of trying to consolidate beckons.

Once we are in our new ground our financial situation should be a lot better and a promotion push will be a much bigger possibility.

I'm more concerned with why there is a delay.

I know Councils are notoriously slow but from a council statement of some 'simple obligations to put into place' and 'building work could start within 2 months' we are now 3 months further down the road and still no real positive news.

Did you actually read the documents? The list of things that needed to be done was quite long, and there was an election in the way too...

And I think most people would have taken the 2 or 3 months thing with a massive pinch of salt.

Thats local councils for you  !

The new owners of Dorking F.C. got the go ahead for re-development plans for a ground well over 6 months ago, and what with all the committee meetings it now won't be until some time in July that the actual building plans are discussed by the planning committee, which will THEN probably result in more negotiations being needed to please all and sundry.

The ground is SUPPOSED to be ready and fit for use by the start of the 2016-2017 season.

We shall see !!!!
