Foxy10
I assume this would involve a certain amount of rejigging i.e. a number of the teams closer to Surrey currently playing in the Sussex would move into the SCC whilst some further afield would move to other leagues. Surely current CC teams wouldn't travel to places like Chichester & Selsey?
Dave Powell
Depends where you are Foxy I guess. I can see more teams changing leagues season on season, like at the higher levels, although obviously without the same ramifications there were for likes of Godalming and Guildford City last season. Big J R
I'd be intrigued to know what Dorking Wanderers committee, players and supporters have to say on the subject. I know one or two of them do 'monitor' this site.
E&E Rich
I see no real news here. The Kent League changed to expand its boundary, presumably because they were well aware that they needed twenty clubs in their catchment and were struggling for numbers. Ironically much of that was because of the success of many of their step five clubs! The Sussex League has always been an anomaly, reliant almost totally on the A27 and with very large distances between some of the extremes. It clearly heard alarm bells when the FA's suggested but rejected reorganisation in 2012 removed it from existence entirely, and maybe the dinosaurs down there have finally woken up. What I do know is that the FA are seriously looking into a full scale reorganisation of the non-league structure, coming ten seasons after its last big change with the addition of the Step Two leagues. Until that happens, there will be no full scale movements with exception of those around the boundary that are vulnerable to a move in the same way as happened last season with LIngfield and Crowborough. Obviously this means that clubs like DFCW and Horley are especially vulnerable. However, any movement will be determined by those clubs that are relegated and with Horsham and Redhill down at the wrong end of the Ryman South, this could be the year that DFCW get transferred over to the CCL. Alternatively, the Sussex League may be looking to expand to 22 clubs. It's all speculation at this stage!
