JONNY WILKINSON

Recommended Posts

The referee was very bad if you have yideo a video of yesterdays game or you are going to get one have a look at all the bad decisions he makes. For example when Jonny Wilkinson scored the winning Drop Goal, have a look at when Matt Dawson Picks up the ball to pass it back to Wilkinson most of the Austraillian players are offside because they ran at Wilkinson before he had kicked it. If you look closely you will see Matt Dawson raise his arms in the air to tell the ref that they were offside, but the ref took no notice.

the last few decisions at the end of normal play went against us, but we had a few go our way.. overall i didnt rate him tho..

i would have liked to have seen us crush them in the second half but despite the fecking tension it turned out as well as could have been hoped.. doing the world champions who just happend to be the whinging ozzies on their own patch with a last minute drop goal at the end of extra time.. beautiful, just beautiful..

everyone will be raving about jonno and wilkinson, but dont forget richard hill, the best back row forward on the planet, thank god we go thim back for the last two games.. great to see dallagio giving the crimbos a little dig at the post match interview as well..

and dont be fooled by gregans gracious words in defeat, he is a mouthy c..t on the pitch and hates us.. i hope he is still crying now

Yes Boot Cleaner, the referee had a very poor game and he will be cringing when he sees the video. He didn't give offside at a ruck once, not once, and as England had close to 70% possession, the Australians were encroaching at every ruck as the the game went on. Your example of the final ruck which pre-ceded Wilkinson's drop goal is a good one and if he saw the Australians off-side, he should have signalled but allowed the advantage to come. He didn't signal. If he didn't see that they were off-side, he should get a proper job.

He must have given 4 or 5 penalties against the England front row when they were comfortably in control of their own ball at set scrums. When Johnson asked why, he replied "You're the professionals, you sort it out." Johnson should have said "Why would we break the laws when we are comfortably in control, old chap?" or some such. And he definitely lost it at the final scrum of normal time. He didn't have a clue, I'm afraid.

Still, justice was done in the end and although it wasn't particularly good rugby, it was unbelievably tense and therefore great for the 'neutrals'.

Hi Canv. Quite right about Hill although he had a greater one in the semi-final, followed closely by Back in my view. Wilkinson was magnificent throughout on Saturday and Johnson saved his best game of the tournament for the last one. I think that your comments are overly kind to Gregan and the fact that he had a poor game is down to Dawson and the English back row.

There was an interesting interview with Wilkinson yesterday. He said that for the future, he has to enjoy it more during the game. Strange comment, I thought. We shall see.

Champagne reception at No 10, I hear. Another Alastair Campbell idea, no doubt. I bet t'lads can't wait.
