Chesham United away

Thought it was a good game today. We dominated the larger part without creating many clear cut chances. Thought their CB Purse was top draw and the reason there wasn't many chances. They only looked threatening from corners. A good point away but thought overall we deserved 3.

Happy new year to all my fans.

You've got no fans!

Fair result I thought. We had the best of it first half, they did in the second. I agree on Ben Edwards, he was excellent again I'd be interested to see our defensive record when he's been in the side. Tom Moran also did well and Hatchet gave Darren Purse a much tougher game than he had in the home game. Well played Slough, any point against Chesham is a good one. COYR!

pretty fair result in the end I guess. maybe based on possession we should have won but neither team had a huge amount of clear cut chances. very similar to quite a few of our games recently in many ways in it being tight and fairly even.

another game unbeaten and another clean sheet against a side we always do badly against.

was surprised that Chesham keeper was told a few times to stop time wasting especially when they were at home and have surely still ambitions to be higher than they are in the league. a lot of their fans left before the end as well which was also confusing.

479 attendance I would have hazarded a guess around half of the ground was supporting Slough so good numbers from us albeit its a "local" game

on another note sounds like a great new signing which will lessen the blow of when we lose Rumbold.

Even Stevens game with Slough just edging it, I thought.

While I agree Slough players gave it their all and we've come away with a good away point,I'm still disappointed that we didn't grab the win.

Agree with other posters that Ben Edwards was excellent but for me Leigh Rumbold edged MOTM.

All the defence played well today but I did think that in the latter part of the game we had trouble in the midfield area, in getting forward to support our front line, due to the tired legs of Ben Edwards and in particular, Adrian Sear who didn't seem quite up with the pace Harsh,as he didn't have a bad game but I still think he's lacking full match fitness.

Up front Smithy and Hatchet were  both terrific in work-rate, without particularly troubling Shane Gore.Neither can be faulted for their display

I do think we sort of became too cautious,by trying to stop Chesham scoring rather than taking the game by the scruff of the neck and taking the game to Chesham but I suppose that's a Slough supporters view of the game, not a manager's one!

Good to come away with a point and a decent performance from a Chesham game.  The whole team worked very hard to get it, particularly in the second half when Chesham started getting into the game.  While it was a bit disappointed to not grab a goal when we were on top, but it was a hard earned point.

A quick look at the results suggests our last league 0-0 was more than 3 years ago in October 2011 unless someone knows better.

Not taking anything from Slough's players but Chesham looked a pale shadow from the team of the last few seasons. They have a good spine of the team and a spattering of decent players but the quality across the pitch, is nowhere near as good as they were

IMO.

Like us,they, too, have two influential players missing in Dave Fotheringham and Laurie Stewart missing through injury.Who,of course, would bolster them.

It's a shame,we haven't got to play them again this season,as I think we have the better squad,if anything.

Think it was a fair result today with both sides playing at a high intensity and neither team really having a clear cut chance. Thoroughly enjoyed the game tho and like SRJ my mom would have been Ben Edwards. He's like a fine wine!

O and just see a certain someone has left Cambridge City, Welcome home.

Apart from the one from Knighty.

A fairly even game in the end with a draw being the right result. As our results against 'The Generals' have been terrible I think we have to be happy with a point away from home but I do agree this Chesham United side isn't as good as in recent seasons. Was surprised with the turnout though, would have expected nearer 700. If guess a third of the crowd today were Rebels.

Tom Moran had a fine game, too.

Brave decision to play him,in the Boxing Day derby, when it could have backfired, especially given that of the experienced centre-halves we have.Glad the managers did as he gets better with every game.

Think we'll have our work cut out keeping him at this rate,as bigger clubs are likely to come knocking.

I hope we can hang on to him,as his versatility, effort and all round ability is a pleasure to watch, and it doesn't seem to matter whatever position we play him,as he gives his all. On his current form he has to be worth a place in the team but with the array of notable players we now have in the squad,no one's place is a formality.

Accommodating any player is getting harder, which can only be a good thing for the overall strength of our first eleven or matchday sixteen.

Things are starting to shape up nicely and we now have depth to build on for next season[and this season is nowhere near over] !

Looking forward to the Hungerford game.

Good game, with both sides looking capable of snatching all the points.

Scott Harris put in another tremendous shift, giving the old stager Darrren Purse some real work to do. Thought Ben Edwards and Adrian Sear had cracking games in centre midfield, although they may have tired slightly at the end but only as a result of the work rate they put in.

Real shame to be losing Rummy (although Adam Martin is a very able replacement) but the injuries may well have found him a new position. He has been a revelation at centre back, could see him playing as sweeper in a back three. Would love to know how good that would be.

Another game were it is hard to pick a Motm, but agree with the above on this form the gaffers will have some real selection headaches coming up and that is a very good position and quite rare following recent seasons.

Looking forward to the next one, COYR

Agree, I thought Tom Moran did well against Chesham's tall center forward Simon Thomas.

That was Tom's first start, poss since Margate, for a while so not sure what you mean by current form, unless you mean against Chesham.

I think Tom is certainly one for the future and I think by bringing him on slowly but surely can only be good for his future prospects.

Big call by Bakes and Unders to play Tom yesterday, only sumising but possibly Reese and Billy were not 100% ready?

He started after Margate, but I think Stuart is alluding to when he came on against Dunstable when he did really well also.

In terms of Billy and Reece, both declared themselves fit, however neither had kicked a ball in 3 weeks, so we just felt we needed to show Tom some faith who we knew was 100%, when either of the other 2 could have broken down.

The positive was both came through the day, and are now fit for selection, and with 2 games in 3 days over New Year we will use the squad as much as we can.

Has been pleasing to only concede 2 goals in 4 games including 3 away games, as we know this has been an issue with us all season, however we have made a big point about the communication and how it needed to improve throughout the side, and that has been happening since St Neots, as we all know the centre halves we have are all good players, but communication as a defender is huge, and something they need to do more of.

Sorry I disagree on the bit you say no clear cut chances, just listened to the game again

Ed's header first half, jake hitting the post, Knighty header from 5 yards, Scott chance and Ed's 1 on 1 with the keeper.

I didn't see Somers having to do much on the saving side apart from 1 late second half when he had to catch the shot going to the top corner. And the disallowed goal for a foul on him.

But yes it looked a 50/50 game.
