LoucasX
The last 7 winners of Spartan prem have all maintained their position in the leagues above. 2 of them have actually pushed on to 2 steps above. This shows the strength of our league. Anyone know of any plans to extend the number of promotion places from step 5 to step 4? Would seem sensible to relegate 3 from both step 4 divisions of Southern league (from current 2) to allow more teams to get promoted from step 5. Perhaps a play off between the 2nd place teams at step 5 with the most points per game? This gives more to play for at end of season for teams at top of step 5 and bottom of step 4, which will maintain interest for more teams longer in to season as well as create some exciting play offs. Any thoughts?
Savagebee
Would love to see two teams promoted from the Premier Division and the 2nd promotion place being decided by a play off between the teams that finish 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th. But as we all know the summer break brings all sorts of changes with teams folding, dropping out of leagues and teams being moved to other leagues which doesn't help the promotion and relegation situation at the end of the season,
OD's
Totally agree with 2 up or a play off. If you look at the step 4 leagues, it is always the same clubs hanging around the bottom of them. Surely teams coming up will strengthen the step 4 leagues. There are too many reprieves.
Whitley Bay
Absolutely no chance until the number of Step Five Leagues is reduced from fourteen to twelve, which was proposed - and then rejected after complaints from the Leagues that would have disappeared / merged. Twelve Step Five Leagues promoting sides to six Step Four Leagues would enable further changes in the number of promotion places to be implemented. Whitley Bay
Unfortunately the FA seem to prefer rewarding mediocrity rather than success But the Step Five Leagues do themselves no favours by insisting that all fourteen Leagues are 'sacrocant'. p.s. Just look at the 'views' of the SSMFL's clubs on it's eastern boundaries, e.g. Hoddesdon, St Margaretsbury and Hertford, about the possibility of being moved to the Essex Senior League!! OD's
You would think they would jump at the chance to go to the Essex Senior. Easier to get out of. Look at Haringey Borough, 13 points clear and only a mid table club in the SSMFL.
BigDogCol
Hertford Town are currently 2nd in a much more competitive league and I'd really miss the derbies if we moved to the Essex Senior. What preparation is it to compete in an easy league before going up?

No-one said if we move to Essex Senior then there would be more promotion places for step 5 clubs. I don't think the changes are easy apart from the one I have suggested, i.e. 3 teams relegated from southern leagues instead of 2 would create 2 more promotion places in step 5 and therefore 8 teams in play offs.
