Today's Match vs Canvey

I thought today's match was a good 'un. Despite the weather conditions, it was a 0-0 draw played with some style between both teams. There was no hint of "dirtiness" or nastiness between the two teams.

Canvey are the best team I've seen us play at home this season, and deserve to go up (unless of course they slip up later and we nick it off 'em!)

This might upset some of the more partisan amongst us on the Fan's Forum but...all the Canvey supporters I spoke to, during the match and in the bar after were a decent and likeable bunch of lads and are representing their club well.

Good luck for the rest of the season to them. Come on you 'Chins!!

Canvey brought a good following and looked a quality side.

We were outplayed but we got a point... to lose today would have been 'game over' for the league this season.

Superb attendance (highest in the league to date!) but all the Hornchurch were scattered about so we didn't really get the singing going!!

Cheers Global. Remember you walking through the vast massed ranks of Canvey fans near the end of the game and getting a few comments about your rather fetching hat. Some good banter today and a really enjoyable game in really difficult conditions.

We should have won today but somehow our finishing boots deserted us but credit to Hornchurch for really battling and getting a point which at times seemed unlikely.

A tremendous attendance and provided a good atmosphere. I hope our lot provided towards what was an electric atmosphere.

It is true that we were lucky to escape with a point today. Sometimes you need that bit of luck though. We never really got going today and I think on a different day we might match Canvey a little better.

Not an excuse or anything but I beleive the weather conditions spoiled the day slightly and stopped us playing our normal slick passing game.

The Ref and lino's weren't much cop either.

To be fair though, Canvey are the best team I have seen this season and I fancy them to win the championship.

have to agree that Canvey were the better team on the day and they closed us down well and stopped us passing...Kingy had done his homework...

the season is a long one however and we'll chase the Gulls all the way and hopefully pounce if they have a poor run....

mind you...I thought we'd nicked it at the end when Westies header shot past the post...now that would have been harsh.... <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

great day considering the weather...great bunch of fans and a great atmosphere to boot....

brilliant...well done Canvey and the Urchins...

Yeah, have to agree with all that has been said. We didn't seem to adjust to the conditions as well as they did today, but it still made for an enjoyable game. Great support, they travelled well and were good-natured and well behind their team. Gay was Man of the Match by miles.

Good to finally meet a few of the chaps off of here, EMHDad, Horniman, Hornchurchmag and Global, cheers chaps!

Anyway, two more weeks of cup football to concentrate on now, Trophy next weekend, then the Trannie game the week after. Bring it on!!

Had to admit I though that West header at the end was in. Was a bit dissapointed with Jon Keeling. He was always a thorn in our side when he played against us for Purfleet especially last season but he was very quiet. Adedeji seems to have gone from strength to strength since he left us.

If you can get the points without playing well then that is a sign of a good team. To be honest our defence despite its decent record this season can be very dodgy and I thought against the pace of John and Opara we might struggle but our centre backs all had excellent games.

Anyway good luck for the season ahead and perhaps we'll meet again before May in the Trophy. You never know!

Minton has to be one of the best midfielders at this level of football. Thought John Kennedy and our three centre backs had excellent games.

Still a long way to go and can't get complacent. Last season at this time we were some 14 points or so behind Aldershot but got ourselves back into contention. I just hope your FA Cup run doesn't affect you too much like it did to us a few seasons back.

I thought we were under par today but that may be due to the quality of the opposition. However, I think we can play better than that and give you a run for your money. JK and a few others were not firing on all cylinders...probably the conditions!

Vinnie should have scored when he turned your centre half. Westy and Ollie were quality as always. Come on the chins!

Nice one Max. Think I know who you are and will say hello when I'm next down the Stadium.
