Can we be play-off challengers....

Just wondering if this was going to be announced or was forced because it was being discussed on here? Anyway doesn't really matter I suppose, so is it a 3G/4G pitch or nothing, is there no chance of there being grass? Although I can see the commercial advantage not so sure players will like it. It does seem these plans are for the absolute minimum and have been scaled back considerably. Let's hope there's a clubhouse!

I can advise that on 28 November, Slough Borough Council submitted a planning application for the development of a community sports facility at the old Arbour Vale Site, Stoke Road.

Amongst other things this will include an artificial pitch and covered seating for a least 250 spectators. The facilities are designed to meet the ground grading requirements of the Southern Premier League with flexibility to expand.

As everyone knows it has taken the Council and indeed the Club a long time to get to this position - of course many questions need answering - however, may I request some restraint over the coming weeks as the Club works through these with the Council. A further statement will then follow in due course.

Glen there will be a bar and clubhouse. The 3g pitch gives the stadium multi use facilities and will be of benefit to the club

Glover I know they'll be a clubhouse it was said tongue in cheek! I'm sure most players would prefer to play on grass, but it seems there may not be a choice? Really hope there will be cover behind one goal, realise funds won't allow for probably more than two covered stands. Talking of funds, is the council fully funding the whole stadium?

I cant really add anymore to what Steve has said, there is a long way to go and plenty of discussions ahead. I do believe though that this is great news and will be the start of bringing the club back to Slough.

I think the key is that the stadium will be built to have the facility to expand as the club does.

Good point Gary, no doubt this won't be club funded meaning exactly what say and income would the club have in the running of the stadium?

really far to early to make statements like that Glen. its really early in the planning stage and there will be a lot of input that Steve and the club will make.

Even though my preference would be for Grass, I think we would be mad not to have an artificial surface, It makes so much more financial sense.

I think if you asked Merthyr, Maidstone or any of the Conference teams that have one, I'm sure they would agree.

Without getting too carried away, it does sound like some very good news.

Fantastic news...... probably should be put on a new thread so it's not missed by forum readers and contributors.

All the documents can be found if you put the word Arbour into the address search box here: http://www.sbcplanning.co.uk/plansearch.php

I don't mean to be pedantic, but that planning application doesn't appear to include the 'new community sports facility' which is referred to on document P/03896/003(2) with a note on the left hand side which says 'REFER TO SEPARATE PLANNING APPLICATION FOR NEW COMMUNITY SPORTS FACILITY'.

Have you any idea what the separate planning application number is?
