Winslow Boy
One of our ex players one of a good number who still comes to games posted this on Facebook. From 1976. He was part of a great era at Winslow which included being runners up to Barton in the Prem and some strong high placements in the league. Just thought I'd post as its a great little throw back. Got a feeling our Vice Chairman played for Waterlows around that time. So many teams that have disappeared from Dunstable.

Imagine getting one of those opening it up and it says "sub"

Winslow Boy
Haha that's a long warm up for me. Strange to think that was the communication and manager knew people would turn up no problems.
Whitley Bay
Strange to think that was the communication and manager knew people would turn up no problems. If someone from the 'slightly older' generation said they would be there - they turned up!! Unlike the 'yoof' of today...
elmfields
An answer to a few of your queries. Bletchley(before MK) was Winslow's postal town ,where letters were sent to be sorted and despatched by rail on the West Coast mainline. I remember that some mail was sent from Winslow to Bletchley on the train prior to its closure in 1967.Incidently the station is earmarked to reopen in 2019. There were no substitutes then, so subsequently no postcard meant no game!!!! For those living in the town team sheets for 1st and Res were posted on the Club notice board outside the Windmill pub for the next game If A N Other was on the sheet we were struggling? In the last SML 1st team game v Hatfield Town it was pleasing to see the grand children of 2 of stalwarts of the 60s and 70s,selected. Ryan Freshwater whose grandfather is Charlie Freshwater, and Luke Taverner whose grandfather is Ivor Rowe.
Winslow Boy
Both lads Dads were top players for Winslow who also played for Wycombe after impressing against them for Winslow in the Berks and Bucks. I had the pleasure of playing with both as a youngster.
