Same with us against Risborough. Shame this match came just before FA Vase game. Fancied our chances in the Challenge Trophy. Manager was on a hiding to nothing really and still picked up 2 injuries.

Positive was that a couple of the Under 18's had good games.

I thought we might be given a free week to prepare for the tie, bearing in mind it looks good the further teams get!

Instead we go to Hemel and get bashed up and a man sent off!

Good to see an U18 player getting some 1st team minutes thou

I think we tried to get it moved without success as well. Tring report here http://www.tafc.co.uk/report.php?fixture_id=2436

I think the first few lines of the attached report sum it all up.

We had Barnet at our place last week, they had to cancel the week before as the couldn't field a side due to commitments elsewhere, i wonder if any of the teams in our league would have got away with that?

Also we were told they have an agreement where they don't have to play home games in this cup competition..this is due to the cost involved!!

Totally agree, it does through up false results. Must say though, for our line up to compete with a team 4th in Div 1, they all played their part and took them all the way. To be fair to Risborough, they can only beat what is put in front of them and wish them all the best in the competition, as a nice club.

Certainly makes sense, we haven't played a home tie in the HSC since 2006/7. From what we have heard that was our last ever game in the HSC anyway (due to us no longer playing in hertfordshire!)

I know Watford always play away but it looks as if Stevenage played at home last year- can't see their costs being less than Barnet - could also be a planning / usage thing for their new ground?

I played at Stevenage a few years ago but we were treated as a bit of an inconvenience. Post match sandwiches were in the changing rooms when we got there at 6, no drinks before, H/T or after the game & nowhere open for spectators to have a drink or food. Whereas whenever we've hosted any of the "big 3" they've always commented on our hospitality. Watford & Barnet lads both cleaned up the changing rooms after themselves, Stevenage passed on a load of pizzas, bananas & drinks they had too much of. Hosting one of those could be one of the few games you make a decent profit on in a season!!

Just goes to show. Both players who left with ice on their ankles are out of the FA Vase game.
