London Lions v Hertford Town - OFF (failed pitch inspection) Very late notice and few people informed apparently. Some fans and players would have already left when news broke at 5.30 and will just find a locked Hemel Hempstead ground.

Very poor from Lions but not wholly unexpected.

Very disappointed, as is Mrs BD as she took a day off just to make a midweek away game.

Grrrrrrr!

It flooded yesterday as the river burst it's banks further up but we have a great pump which removed the standing water from the pitch and surrounding meadows.

Should be ok for your visit if we get get any crazy monsoons like last year!

It might be London Lions at fault, but it could also be the fault of the match referee or his deputy!!

Even then I would expect an earlier notification than 5.30pm.

Apparently, questions were being asked all day with wrong phone numbers listed and poor comms all round.

Not sure what Barton Rovers will make of the Crawley vs Stony game being played tonight, VERY wet and tore the pitch to bits!!

Conditions were a real leveller (and Crawley skipper getting himself sent off didn't help them) but Stony battled to their 5th win in last 7 in all competitions.

Gutted with the result last night - thought we did enough to get at least a draw.  The fog ruined the match as a spectacle I thought.  I watched from the side of the pitch in the first half and couldn't see to the other side it was that bad.  The linesmen took a bit of stick for missing a couple of offsides, but anything on their far side was virtually impossible to see!

No one wants to make a wasted trip, so I could see why it went ahead, but it was very difficult to make out where the ball was at times.  Be interested to see if the Cold End got any of it on camera?

The goal was soft at best from our point of view, but it proved decisive in the end.  I felt we completely dominated the second half and had more than enough chances to score, but not for the first time this season we drew a blank against one of the top sides.  We've lost five in the league now and four were 1-0 defeats, so we are clearly not a million miles away, but you need to take your chances in the big games and unfortunately so far we haven't done it.

A definite sign of a good side is winning when not at your best and Welwyn certainly did that last night - full credit to them.  Long way to go still, but we are going to need a good run to get back in the mix.

CRAWLEY GREEN 2-3 STONY STRATFORD TOWN

Proceedings were only delayed by five minutes while we waited for the referee to realise he was no longer watching a tennis match – either that or he didn’t seem to know how to call the captains over, constantly looking from side to side as he was. First blood to SS who went two up and must have fancied their chances when shortly before half time Chris Harvey opened his mouth a bit too wide and a bit too often for everyone’s liking and got his just desserts which hardly endeared him to Mr. M. Despite this, CG were rejuvenated (perhaps due to ex-Red Sean Bishop at No. 10) and equalised with two in a minute just after the restart but to no avail as the winner came with just eight minutes left as the fog descended.

Largely agree with the points made by Baldock Town. I myself was surprised that the match finished, although i can see why the officials gave it a go initially. Once they had made this decision, and there weren't any contentious offside decisions throughout the first half, it was going to be difficult for them to postpone with the fog not getting any worse.

Appreciate that there was a level of domination in terms of possesion during the second half, but our GK wasn't forced into any serious saves whilst at the other end we created the best of the opportunities in my opinion. We should certainly have scored when our central midfielder ran through and scuffed one straight at Stilwell.

You are quite right though, we were not at our best - slightly hampered by our 3 suspensions but this hampering is of our own doing so no complaints on that one. There are so many more games to go, but we are pleased with the result as Baldock are comfortably one of the better sides we have played this season, and last season in fact. We look forward to the county cup game up at Top Field in a couple of weeks time.

I would go along with all your points there Backroom1 - we had lots of chances, but only recall your keeper making a couple of saves, both of which you'd expect him to save, the rest were all off target.  I wasn't at the Codicote and Hatfield 1-0 defeats, but by all accounts we had more than enough chances in those games and we should certainly have got something from the 1-0 defeats at Harpenden and last night.  Hopefully we'll do better in December against yourselves, Hatfield and Crawley Green - all of which are at home.

Funnily enough, I took residence behind your keeper's goal in the second half and couldn't see the other end of the field, so will have to take your word on your chances - I knew you went close a couple of times because the supporters groaned and the Cold End's video said so.  But like Mr Wenger often says "I did not see it!"  :D

Of course, if your not happy with your strikers not taking chances.....we would be more than happy to take Mr Harman off your hands!
