vs Hitchin

Far from at our best, but I'll take three points thank you when we don't play that well and are miles from our best!

Like to see us sign another wide man who can play either wing, as when Dobbo or Jake go off our options are too limited with Warren out injured.

Completely agree Chris was saying the same behind the goal. Ended up with Rummy and knighty on the wings which doesn't play to their strengths.

First half was very scrappy, with lots of breaks in play and neither team settling into a rhythm.

Second half both sides had spells in the ascendency and I thought we deservedly knicked all three points.

Both goals were superb, great cross from Jake but a top class header from smithy as it was slightly behind him and he really had to arch his neck to get behind. The free kick from knighty was superb absolutely begging to be hit home with billy winning the race to get there.

In recent times Hitchin have been a major bogey side so a great three points. With players coming back to fitness the gaffers will have some selection headaches in coming weeks which can be a good thing. But we do seem well stocked in central positions with fewer options on the flanks.

Good three points to keep league run going COYR

Not too sure about a deserved 3 points.

We didn't play that well and I thought Hitchin were the better team for the majority of the game.

I thought we missed the aerial dominance of Reece Yorke big time at the heart of our defence.

Every time that Hitchin played the ball forward, whether pumped forward or from a dead ball kick, we seemed to struggle to win the ball in the air against Simon Martin.

Two really excellent goals from Ed Smith and Jeffers.

Well done to the team for showing the character to get the 3 points despite not being at our best today.

COYR!!

Things balance themselves out, we were the better side at Arlesey for instance and got nothing. Bad luck to Hitchin, unlucky to lose, but you have to create and take your chances, which we did.

Haven't seen a genuinely poor side in this league so far, which is good for competition and MUCH better than the league below!

Didn't see a whole lot of the game, which from what I saw was a but of a blessing. Won't focus on the match then and instead talk about the pre-game activities.

Thanks to all those who contributed to making my son a very happy mascot. Alfie for playing with him on the pitch, skipper for taking good care of Nathan with the handshakes, the ref for being a good sport lending his yellow card and for letting Nathan keep his tossing coin (bribing supporters to curry favour?

I thought we defended well when under the cosh and created the better chances. In a hard fought game that should be enough to edge the points which is what happened today.

Personally at the start of the season I would have loved to be in and around the likes of hitchin and Chesham so full credit to the lads

i think our bosses should have heeded the words of corbys boss when we last played them " gave them thursday off what a mistake won't be doing that again" ok we faired better today but i thought we looked sluggish and disjointed in the first half, maybe a light session on thursday with a little tactical workout might have been a little bit more to our favour say. still 3 points is 3 points can't argue with that. :elephant:

My only criticism of yesterday was our failure to keep the ball. I felt we gave it away a bit too easily and that created a lot of the pressure we came under. That said, I thought Hitchin were a better team than their league position suggests.

We gave them Thursday off because of what they had to do on Tuesday night in terms of travelling and a tough game on a difficult surface.

Have done it before and will do it again if we think it is right for the lads, which in this case it was.
