AMPTHILL TOWN 1-1 HAREFIELD UNITED
It was back to the original plan and the first visit of the season to Woburn Road to see if Ampthill were really as bad as their position suggests after their manager and players decamped to a certain other Bedfordshire club. Once the gateman had managed to remove the programme from the very tightly packed jiffy bag and sorted out the right change, it was into the clubhouse which no longer seems to host the Merry Poppets kindergarten.

Proceedings eventually got under way at 7.51 and the answer to my question is a resounding NO. They dug in and all Harefield had to show for their efforts was a single goal shortly after the restart. Ampthill’s equaliser came right at the death and was followed by angry protestations by Harefield that two players had been offside. So angry, in fact, that Harefield’s goalkeeper saw red, kicked out at something on his way to the dressing room, recommended sex and travel to the protesting Ampthill chairman and re-entered the fray at the final whistle to the obvious embarrassment of the Harefield contingent. The League officials present won’t have been impressed, either.

Any fans there? It seemed to be just club/League officials and PWOPA NAWTY BOIZ. Maybe the Ampthillfolk will come and support their local team on Saturday as the posters suggested.
