Loose
European court rules The right of national governments to deny benefits to EU migrants who come “solely” to claim handouts was upheld today in a landmark European court ruling. So-called welfare tourism was ruled out in a clear statement of the legal position that could help David Cameron’s promised crackdown on abuse of the system. Judges in Luxembourg upheld a German ruling against a Romanian woman, Elisabeta Dano, 25, who claimed unemployment benefit in Leipzig despite having no intention to work in Germany. She had never worked in Romania either, the court heard, and turned down jobs offered by the Leipzig job centre. http://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/news/world/europe/article4264275.ece The tide may be turning. cup of tea
Ruling is correct as far as I am concerned - can't believe that it had to go that far. The laws need to be tightened but we shouldn't discourage skilled workers who have every intention to work and in doing so generate wealth for the country. I dread to think what could happen to the NHS if the Tories and UKIP form a coalition after the general election.
Savagebee
I work in the NHS and some immigration has been good for the NHS and some immigration has been bad for the NHS. To many people use the NHS these days who have never paid a penny in and that is not fair on those who have paid in all there working lives and have to wait ages for appointments and to get a bed so they can have a operation because the appointment or bed has been taken by some one who has not paid a single penny in.
