Loose Posted November 11, 2014 Share Posted November 11, 2014 European court rules The right of national governments to deny benefits to EU migrants who come “solely” to claim handouts was upheld today in a landmark European court ruling. So-called welfare tourism was ruled out in a clear statement of the legal position that could help David Cameron’s promised crackdown on abuse of the system. Judges in Luxembourg upheld a German ruling against a Romanian woman, Elisabeta Dano, 25, who claimed unemployment benefit in Leipzig despite having no intention to work in Germany.
