Would anyone object............................

..............if I dismantled and removed the two 'temporary goal net things [training for the use of]' from either side of the pitch at The Park immediately before the big cup-tie with Crawley on Saturday week?

I would be quite willing to re-erect the things after the game, of course. And I wouldn't want free entry to the match or a Ryman League pass for doing it.

Anyone who enjoys watching the game through a net could stand behind either of the conventional goals or, if they don't like the atmosphere there, I could lend them a tennis raquet and they could watch the game through it, perhaps.

I've never noticed these things beside the pitches at games on Match of the Day but then I don't watch much T.V. I don't know anything about football but I assume that there hasn't been a rule change which permits goals to be scored in them during the game as well as in the usual nets at either end of the pitch?

A couple of small technical points.

I assume that they are demountable without the need for sophisticated equipment. I have a Swiss Army knife if required. I recall that they were supplied by The Supporters Club at the beginning of the season and I wonder whether they came with an Instruction Manual?

Secondly. A few volunteers to assist would be welcome. No free entry for them either, however. A pint should cover it. 'Doin' It For The City' etc.

If no-one objects, I will have a word with the appropriate member of the Board.

I've just had a call from the chap who used to drive the red tractor.

It takes an expert with a willing helper 45 minutes or so to dismantle or re-erect each of these things. Alternatively, 4 people can lift each one and move it. The latter option is preferred and the preferred venue for each is in the trees by the clubhouse entrance or the area behind the boardroom where the cars are parked or the area beside the boardroom where the pile of sand was kept for use by Directors in byegone times.

1.00/1.30 on Saturday week?

No he didn't offer to buy the beers. I'll do that.

Clothing appropriate to the weather conditions. No insurance. Entirely at volunteers own risk etc.

WHOA Laz.

It was made absolutely clear in my first posting that neither I nor any of the willing volunteers who assist with the temporary re-location of the goal net things require or will accept free entry to the match or Ryman League passes in return.

There will be far more deserving cases, no doubt.

Freeloaders need not apply. In fact, upon reflection, volunteers will only be accepted to assist with this particular task who have a ticket for the match. Those without will be far too busy to help in any event.

I'll still buy the beers though.

O.K.

We have sanction from the chap who used to drive the red tractor and on that basis, if anything goes wrong it down to him.

Me, Rob, Rob's brother, ESG, Laz, Webbo, fqt, Woody, Alban, Jimmy Rabbitte, Zealster, Hooded Man, Leigh Page and anyone else who buys a ticket for the match at The Park 1.00/1.30 on Saturday week.

It won't take 5 minutes and we will all get that warm and fuzzy feeling that comes with doing good things.
