Not quite sure what to make of this - the wind was the dominant factor in this game. Peacehaven had the better of the conditions in the first half , hx the second . Got caught with a sucker punch at the end. Think we deserved a draw

It's nearly always windy at Peacehaven.

High up and so close to the sea !  A couple of nice pubs there, though !

A fair account below it would seem, taken from the Magpies club web site.  (http://www.peacehavenfc.co.uk/news/burton-grabs-90th-minute-winner-for-ten-man-haven-1327222.html)

“IN A SCRAPPY game dominated by a strong swirling wind Peacehaven grabbed all three points on Saturday at The Sports Park.

Both teams struggled to come to grips with the strong wind which hampered Haven's normal slick and quick passing game.

In the 40th minute the deadlock was broken when captain Ash Jones came up for a corner and somehow scored when the ball seemed to change direction and was held up by the wind before Jones forced the ball over the line.

In the 52nd minutes Joey May levelled things up for the visitors with a stunning 25 yard shot that flew into the net.

When in the 70th minute Jon Marzetti was shown a red card for a second bookable offence, The Magpies looked like they would have settled for a point.

And then in the 90th minute as the crowd were looking to the referee to blow for full time, up popped hero Tom Burton to score and steal all three points for the home side which sends Haven to tenth in the table and underachieving AFC Hornchurch to the bottom.”

My good lady wife and I have a friend, (an old work colleague of mine), and we visit him in Peacehave regularly.

On the main drag that runs between Brighton and Newhaven, you have  'The Sussex Coaster',  which used to be a regular haunt of ours but not so much these days.  Just on the Brighton side of the Coaster, on the coast side of the road you have  'The Dew-Drop',  which has had the same landlord for near on 45 years.  A more old fashioned type of pub but you can have a great 'craic' in there.  Some of the 'older generation', (like myself),  Peacehaven fans get in there in the early evening.

It's lovely for me from the Combined Counties to get in there and get up to date with what is going on in the Sussex League.  A very friendly crowd of people.
