Not much to say really but well done to Southend and the extra training shone through.

The ref completely lost it. Does he know what to tackle is?

We did not create much.

Horrible to watch the league team hoofing the ball in the air but their players were spring heeled and won most of the aerial battles. They had more success on the floor and looked dangerous running towards our penalty area.

Positive

Hopefully we can take this day forward and lead us to the title. Playing Southend 3 years ago helped us win the trophy.

Negatives

Can see that we are in trouble against teams with pace, even Aldershot had us in trouble with this and look how they are doing in the conf.

Midgley is being carried by the team. You don’t really know he is there and we have lost that outlet JK used to exploit so well.

Need someone in defensive midfield to cut out the attacks towards our penalty area.

Agree about Midgely and a lot of the crowd around me felt the same,he seems to be starved of the ball and contributes very little towards the game, almost like we are playing with 10 men sometimes.

Must also agree about the Ref,he was a total [****!!****] one of the worst I have ever seen at the lane and weve had some bad ones,I think he needs reminding that it is a contact sport!

That [****!!****] Beeby is one of four ref's who we despise at the Hall.

Joe Ross, Keith Hill, Paul Armstrong are the other three.

Unfortunately, the standard of refereeing has dropped dramatically and a poor one can turn games very easily.

As you saw we are capable of playing the ball on the ground.

Good luck and thanks for a good game.

Hope you reach the conference come May!

Not unlucky and plenty of effort but I feel the plot was lost

Canvey are the footballing team but you can only play a passing game from a solid defence

If you play three at the back you must have a holding player in the hole (in front of the back 3)Benno or Dobinson not involved

If you are to ask Duffers to defend then he must have help

Tilly on the side and Southend poured down the Canvey left all night and two of their three goals came from a player running through the hole position in front of the back 3

Now win the league, the players and support deserve to be making the progress the skill levels and effort merit

1. i cant spell it

2. i was too pissed to remember much of the second half

i remeber saying i hope we score first to see if southend fancied it and well basically they did.. twice..

I felt we were poor compared to what we play by normally. Defensively, we weren't at the races particularly when Mark Gower got the ball. He must have been Wignalls best buy. Personally take nothing away from Jay Smith but we should have closed him down better in the second half. One thing that does puzzle me is how he got man of the match when personally I rarely noticed him and felt Gower was a bigger threat. Give the lad credit though, super second goal. As for the ref...............................................that's another story. Well done Southend though and we might see them in league games in a year unless they play football and not the long ball. All in all a good cup tie, shame we didn't win!
