43 Minutes A Danny Potter punt down the pitch, lands to Jeff Minton who pounces on a Southend hesitation, rounds Flahaven and pokes home for Canvey's 2nd. <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

 

46 Minutes A Jay Smith scorcher is Southend's equaliser to make it 2-2 just 21 seconds into the 2nd Half.

 

59 Minutes Jay Smith hits the bar after some good overlapping play by the Shrimpers.

 

76 Minutes David Theobald sent off, but the Referee changes his mind after re-reading his notes and issues just a Yellow. - Referee sounds like a [****!!****]!!!

90 Minutes + 2 Bit of handbags involving Tes Bramble and A Canvey player - Referee doesn't have a clue who it was, neither does the Assistant. 3 Minutes of added time, signalled.

 

90 Minutes + 5 Another scorcher from Jay Smith, gives Southend a final minute winner and sets up a tie against Lincoln City in the 2nd Round at Roots Hall.

 

All in all from what I've heard it sounded like a great game with an electric atmosphere. But it seems as if the Professionals' fitness and full-time training came through in the end against tired legs despite being a man down in the dying minutes!!

Well I suppose we'll get all the tossers on here tomorrow gloating.

 

At the end of the day Southend won the battle not the war! They still have a long hard season in front of them and a 3-2 win over a Ryman League side won't paper over the cracks. They did play well tonight esopecially Smith but at the end of the day there was not alot to choose between the two sides except the fact Southend seemed a lot fitter and our legs tired towards the end.

 

Southend fans may gloat but remember where you are in the table. We came mighty close to knocking you out. Good luck in the second round but I hope for your sake we won't be meeting again next season.

I didn't see it on the TV, I was listening to the Radio. Probably a slight difference when they don't have a clock to look at.

Well we have nothing to be ashamed about, it was one of those games that could have gone either way. There was no difference between the 2 teams. Victory over SOuthend would have been wonderful but the most important thing is we get a result on Saturday and go onto win the Ryman.

Didnt see the bricking of the coaches but the bigger concern was some moron throwing a can on the field, the ref went and spoke to the 4th official and the club could get fined. I hope whoever did that will be banned from Canvey for life. Therei sn o place for that sort of thing.

As mentioned on another thread, these 'things' were actually rocks and bits of tarmac being thrown from a few morons trying to hit Southend fans from behind the fence at the rear of the terrace. What it is with Canvey people and throwing rocks?

well lets not forget about some of the behaviour of some Blues fans at the home game, some moron threatened me luckily im big enough and ugly enough to handle myself and could laugh at this guy but I heard of innocent Canvey fans being hit for doing nothing more than wearing yellow shirts.

Its sad that a few morons ruined for everyone else, there should be no need for trouble at these games we all live in the same area.

I am disgusted about the coach being stoned and the poor guy going to hospital I hope the persons doing that are caught.

DOnt make it out to be all oneway because it wasnt.
