Vs Margate

Wow what a great result today! Shame I missed it as it sounded like we could have won by a far bigger margin. Be interested to hear from those that went if we were really good of Margate terrible? Never expected to win there with the squad they've assembled, the wages they're supposedly paying wouldn't be out of place in League Two! Hope for an away tie somewhere new in the next round.

Slough played a 3-5-2 formation to combat the diamond formation Margate, apart from 10 mins at start of game Slough were the better team, more organised, more effort and a better final ball. Margate came back stronger in 2nd half but failed to test us in the penalty box.

Well done to the managers , players and fans today your efforts fully deserved victory .

Listening to the midweek interview it sounded like the team we're going to 'go for it' and have no fear and it worked! Just shows what this squad is capable of on their day. Very stupid (if true) of Terry Brown to guarantee they'd beat us, how stupid must he feel now!

Great day out with great weather and a fantastic performance from the team.

A thoroughly deserved win from start to finish.

Took the chances that came our way in the first half and only allowed Margate one sniff on goal which their forward obligingly diverted over the bar.

Second half we played even better and really should have won by a bigger margin with some delightful counter attacking play.

Hats off to the gaffers who'd done their homework getting their tactics spot on with what looked like a narrow 3-5-2 formation which completely nullified the Margate midfield.

Another game where it was almost impossible to pick a MOTM with 1-11 being excellent but I'm sure Margate wished they had a center back like Reese Yorke in their team who was sublime throughout.

Special mention to Tom Moran who came into the team in an alien position to him and played a blinder.

Reports so far only mention 'Margate talisman Charlie Allen' being taken off injured but no mention of our talisman Jamie McClurg going off injured.

Have to also say it was a bit of a poor attendance from the 'behind the goal gang'.

Of course I know there's always reasons why people cannot go to games, just seemed a particularly low turnout today.

A superb team and squad performance apart from the first ten minutes it was all Slough two chances in first half two goals even when Clurgy went of injured the rythem of our play was not affected.

They had a cert goal headed over the bar by there own player

Second half we had more chances to extend the lead but the boys just stuck in there to keep the lead gained.

Margate have no complaints and what a big mistake if said by Terry Brown in an interview that they were gauranteed to win being an ex Slough player he should of known better.

MoM would be an injustice to pick one as for me it was the team.

Well done Bakes and Unders be good to get another big team in next round.

From looking at the stats we've had two home games out of the last ten matches and one of those home matches was on a Tuesday night. I don't think this has helped and with five out of the next six at home I think the support will be back as per normal.

As RR has said for a big game was surprised what a low turnout from the boys behind the goal.

£1.80 for a pint in Weatherspoons

a great day for the chairman it has been a win win win day.
