vs Biggleswade

Recommended Posts

Why is football so popular for the masses who watch it's because it is so unpredictable if everything went to plan it would be boring.

At half time there supporters would of walked out knowing there team had lost just like we would of done at Kettering.

But thats why we enjoy the game because the game never goes the way you expect it to.

Like i said in the Banbury thread when we played them in 1970 with only twenty minutes to go and nil nil the last thing we expected was for Slough to go and score seven.

Last nights game was very entertaining just like the first game earlier in the season and played by two teams giving there all.

Yes the game changed with Dobbos injury but we still had a couple of chances if one had gone in then we could of won before they got back in the game but they didn,t.

So stop all the moaning and enjoy the ride in this league.

ALL fans are fickle, the higher up you go so does the expectations naturally. So there's nothing wrong in being disapointed in some games when we should be doing better. I praise when it's due but also criticise if necessary, as longs as it's not personal then it's fine.

I havent been to many games this season, i enjoyed it, but it was a concern that one of their goals came straight from our goal kick and then the other came from one of our corners! Both times they ran straight through our midfield and defence and got their shots away. However it was great battling back and our heads didn`t go down and I think a point each was a fair result in the end.  Another funny aside from the game when their sub was being led away by their physio with a rib injury he said to him " you think it hurts now, it will hurt much more in the morning!" Just what you want to hear!

Really am confused by some postings.

Is it unreasonable to post an opinion we should have tried to keep the ball better than we did after we were 0-2 up - as that could have helped us see out a victory?

That is all!

Agree, it's not 'moaning' it's peoples opinions about a football match on a football forum and as long as it's not personal and slagging players/officials off, I can't see the problem.

Hi Chris, I agree 100% with your comment about us needing to keep the ball a bit better (we did need too and it might have therefore given us some respite) but I do think sometimes as football fans and managers in general we forget to give credit to other teams when we lose/draw, personally for me I thought Biggleswade were excellent second half....

One thing you often hear from opposition fans and managers when they lose to us, is that they did not play well etc, when more often than not we are sitting there thinking our game plan worked etc and we played well and why are they not giving us credit etc (Truro and Corby springs to mind), and vice versa when we lose more often than not we will have people say we were poor and too direct with too many long balls etc without really thinking what did the other team do to stop us from winning, at the end of the day it is a results business, and however you do it, winning is the key.

I guess that is just football in general,  I was just sticking up for our lads on the back of a tough trip on a Tuesday night in what was a tough game, obviously we all would love to play the perfect game, but invariably that rarely happens, hence why the lads are playing at this level and not higher.... Have no problems with anything anyone has said, and hopefully you have no problems with my thoughts on it.

One further positive is we are now 3 games unbeaten in the league, and whilst we are still conceding too many goals than we would like, we are also scoring a lot of goals also...

We will look forward to Saturday, in what is the toughest game we could have got at this stage of the Trophy, and will be great to see as many of you as possible there supporting the lads who will be up against players earning more than some full time professionals.

Well said Bakes & totally agree that they were excellent 2nd half.

Biggleswade are a very good side. You look all throughout their side & they have good players at this level.

As I mentioned before Craig Daniel has caused us problems whenever we've faced him in the past and IMO is one of the best players we've faced at this or the level below (when we were both there)

Then you've got the likes of Mark Coulson & Lee Allinson who add so much experience to the side you can see why they finished mid-table last season as you say. All very good players.

I just thought we should have been better with the ball on possession to keep it away from these good players at times in the match.

Anyhow I'm piping down now - bring on Margate Saturday!! ;-)
