Banbury Away

first what were the so called stewards doing. secondly once the perportrator is identified he/ she should be banned from all grounds for life, i hope the referee is ok and brings charges against the offender to which the maximum penalty should  be applied, the club should be heavily fined ( how did a glass bottle get into the ground?). not only does this bring the game of football into disrepute but it does the town of banbury no favours either , i'm absolutely disgusted.

I believe it was a plastic bottle. However, there was alcohol being consumed freely by people watching the game (in plastic glasses, not that this makes much of a difference) and at the end I also saw someone with a normal glass pint glass.

Just to clarify the STFC position at Holloways Park, no alcohol is allowed within sight of the pitch and no glasses or glass bottles are allowed in the ground. Just a reminder :-)

I witnessed the incident first hand . The Banbury guy threw a plastic bottle at the ref from no more than two feet, whilst his other idiot friends were abusing both the ref

and the linesman. I even spoke to one of these idiots after in no uncertain terms and he denied anything had happened. Looking back I wish I had told the police

who he was, as the bottle thrower was part of the same group. Seriously pissed off with yesterday, Banbury need to sort themselves out as this is not the first

time something has happened there.

As Rebel1965 says on the other thread, let's not succomb to wild speculation and let the proper authorities deal with the outcome.

One thing that the Southern League need to look into is ground safety, that concrete wall leading to the changing rooms is not sufficient protection.

For me today has overshadowed a good 1st half Slough performance especially from Hatchet, and ruined a good game of football .

I hope the referee is ok and returns to football soon as possible.

All the Banbury supporters I met seemed a nice bunch of fans and one was telling me of the struggle their club is going through financially, just to keep the team going. So I don't think the club should be fined, because of one moron that Banbury FC can hardly legislate for.

How would we feel as a club if one of our so called supporters brought such shame to Slough. The matter between the bottle throwing idiot and the ref has to be a police matter.

However I do feel 3 points should be awarded to us from the FA.

On the game itself,I thought it took a while for our team to get going and the young livewire Banbury players up front caused our defence a few problems with their pace.Their number 10 was particularly effective.

After we conceded a goal,we had a wake call that galvanised us into action and chances started coming, with Dobbo,Hatchet and Smithy being in the thick of the action.

Being that Banbury had their two mainstay centre-halves missing from their team.I thought that it would only be a matter of time before the Slough attackers imposed their game on Banbury's inexperienced back-line.

Once we had got in front I thought that Slough would prove to be the ultimate winners at the end of 90 minutes but that result was taken away from us by such a daft off the field incident.

Sorry WR,your post wasn't on the forum when I wrote my article.

Banbury FC need to identify the troublemakers and warn them that their unruly behaviour will not be tolerated.Obviously the prat that threw the bottle needs to be banned from Banbury games for a considerable time but I'm not convinced a life ban is appropriate,as we all know that wild youngsters don't always make wild old men!

Often gang members goad weak minded idiots into such ridiculous behaviour but don't get me wrong I'm not condoning such actions.

I think the bottle throwing fan should be given a 10 year ban.

I won't talk about the incident at half-time, but what I will talk about is during the game.

The handball WAS clearly a handball and a yellow card, as I was right next to it. Yes Hatchet was quite forceful trying to get the ball back - but why? Because he wanted to take a free-kick and the keeper was well out of position. If anything I thought THEY were lucky to keep their keeper on the pitch as effectively handball outside the box and holding onto the ball which are effectively two yellow cards in my book.

Then there were the match bookings I thought their 3 was unlucky to be booked, but apart from that I thought the rest in the match were valid and I can think of about 10 yellows we've got this season which were prob not yellows - that's football!

In terms of us I thought we were well in control of the match and would have gone onto win. As Unders said on twitter I thought Hatchet was superb. One thing we do need to do is start matches better as that's several times now recently we've gone behind in the first 30 mins early on.

Finally, one quick question. When our Arlesey match got abandoned a few years back didn't they put an announcement over the tannoy asking for anyone qualified in the ground who was happy to run the line with one of the Linesmen taking over in the middle? Could that have happened?

I asked that question, but the ref felt for his and his officials safety, and decided that it would be abandoned... whilst disappointed as we were in front I can understand his actions, I have never witnessed anything like it in all my years of playing and watching non league football.

In terms of the game, was quite tough, as the pitch was very bobbly, so we had asked the lads to get the ball forward as quick as we could.

Hatchett was superb, he may not be the most graceful of players, but hopefully the fans are now seeing what we see in him. and he is proving to be a real handful, gutted for him, as that would have been his 8th goal of the season (for us), which is an excellent return for someone whose season only started for us in September really.

Front page of Non League Paper. Seems the ref was sick after being hit. Be nice gesture if supporters trust could send him something? Chocolates? Wine? Nigel im sure you could call Banbury police and offer a statement. I feel sorry for proper Banbury fans who've gone thru hard times but they need to sort out security like we did a couple of seasons back.

If we are given the 3 points does that mean Scotts well deserved goals will count.

Thats two games i will not forget v Banbury.

Yesterdays disgraceful antics by some stupid idiots ruining the enjoyment for 250-300 people not only missing out on entertaining game but losing out money wise.

To see us true supporters and the likes of BR walking back to the train station to get train back to Brighton is sole and Yeovil Steve Chris from Swindon

Is sole distroying.

The first game against Banbury was in 1970 evening game only saw second half as i had just collected my Certificates from presentation at School nil nil with twenty minutes to go Slough went and scored 7 fantastic end to the game.

Being played at the Dolphin the crowd would of been over a 1000.

What a contrast between these two games.

But as someone else mentioned, severe punishment needs to be implemented otherwise any 'fan' will think they can do the same and get away with it. But agree I can't see us getting the points.

I think it's a stone bonk cert that we'll not get the points.

That will mean, as a club (including supporters) we will incur further costs for travelling up on a Tuesday evening.

As I said, common sense and justice won't come into it.

I have no idea how the FA and who ever else involved can not give us the points. We were winning they decide to assault the ref and get the game called off its not like the first time they have done this either. If they show u can get away with it then every time a team is losing some donkeys guna assault an official. I will not be returning to banbury no way even some tool on Twitter is making crap up. Don't wanna take this out on all banbury fans but they need to sort out some decent stewards and cover to the tunnel to control the few idiots they have
