Not correct Laurence, if you are sent off on a Sunday you are suspended from all football until that side has either played 1 or 3 games depending on the ban (and vice versa if sent off on a Saturday you are banned from all football), that is where you can then have a problem, say a lad gets sent off early December, he has to wait 3 Sundays for suspension to be finished, you can then have games called off due to poor pitches, when in the Southern League they will probably go ahead (plus you can easily end up missing more than 3 senior games as midweeks etc)... I can go on, and I understand Sunday football has its importance, however not for myself managing at this level.

Of course there are some good teams that play at that level, and some good players, however I have watched some of the better games, and you still get poorer officials more often than not, and you do still get sides with players who are happy to try and make a name for themselves....

Not for us I am afraid, would much prefer them going out to a step 5 side every day of the week.

Sorry just my opinion.

No problem Bakes. I respect your opinion and you do have a point whereby a Step 3-7 player could be playing for a Sunday League Premier Division team who come up against a team from a lower division in a Cup match...and that's when they do come up against players who try to 'make a name for themselves'. And yes, there are too many old Referees in Sunday League football who cannot keep up with play and therefore miss bad challenges.

I'm sure you are wrong about the suspension rule though. From what you are saying, it appears that the FA are telling Sunday clubs one thing and Saturday clubs another. When we get a player sent off nowadays, it clearly states that the suspension is from Sunday football only. You do make a good point about Sunday games getting postponed and suspended players waiting for ages to serve their three-match ban though.

Any red card is suspended from all football until that ban is served by the club he got sent off for... whether Saturday or Sunday football, there have been occasions of this in the last year that I know of.

I have just checked this up on the London FA website, so I presume the same wording is on other County FA websites ?

It says here on the Discipline page 'If a player is dismissed they will be suspended from ALL football until the team the player was playing for at the time of the dismissal have completed the relevant number of qualifying matches. For example, if a player is dismissed whilst playing for a reserve team at step 6 they will be suspended until that team have completed the relevant number of fixtures'.

but then when you download the Discipline Handbook, it says in there (on Page 12) 'Suspensions are from the day type of football only and therefore a player dismissed from Saturday football can still play Sunday football and vice-versa'.

So one of us is wrong...or more likely the F.A. don't know what they are doing ?  ;)

Re officials, leagues get the referees they deserve! If clubs, coaches and plays conduct themselves in a reasonable manner then decent officials will want to take games in that league.

There's enough of a shortage of officials for good ones to deliberately avoid leagues or clubs with a bad reputation.
