Swifty
Quick 'heads up' about another possible change in November if we beat Harefield United this Tuesday, as the relevant Middlesex Senior Cup second round tie is scheduled for 11th November on the Middlesex FA website. If this is true, the away league game at Chertsey Town on the 12th will need to be rescheduled. By the way, has it been agreed with Loxwood that our FA Vase tie on the 1st will be decided on the day, i.e. penalties at our place if drawn after extra time? If not, a replay at Loxwood will mean a postponement of the Woking game. Who'd be a fixture secretary? Fine work, Geoff. Tone, mate, are you keeping up with all these changes? Keith B
I am looking forward to the Woking game even if I wished it was at home. I've never been to their ground personally, but it looks a fine stadium with a side called Moaners Corner presumably named after a groundhopper caught out by their admission charges. The centrepiece is the Leslie Gosden Stand behind one goal that dwarfs the rest of their stadium, and will be the biggest ground that most of our players have ever played in. Talking of admission charges, their First Team games are priced at £15 for adults, £10 over 65's & concessions, and £3 under 16's. Question 1 - Will these prices apply to our game? I am sure any supporters planning to travel would like to know in advance. By the way, Woking lie 3rd in the Conference with play-off hopes of promotion to League 2, despite Saturday's 1-3 home defeat to bottom club AFC Telford, watched by a crowd of 1,817 which leads to my second question - do we get a share of the gate? Perhaps our highly esteemed former manager Mark Butler might pop down the road from Aldershot to see our game.
lazarus
Yes, the net proceeds from the match are shared in the Surrey Senior Cup. There will obviously be a far smaller attendance than for Woking's home league matches and all the expenses of the match have to be taken out before the proceeds are divied up, such as match officials' fees, floodlights (max £50), turnstile operators, stewards and advertising. In the past when we have played Woking, who have always seemed very honest in their previous dealings with us in this competition (we never seem to get drawn at home to them!), we have received a four figure sum. B378
The four figure sum being £23.75. :-D
Swifty
From memory (I wasn't there!), when we last played Woking away in the Surrey Senior Cup (and won 1-0 with a goal from Ricky Wellard?), the attendance was either 179 or 197.
