Horsham 1-4 Slough Town

This was not Slough's best performance of the season, but possibly their most gutsy as they battled well against an experienced Horsham side to secure all-three-points.

Things could not have started better for the Rebels as they went ahead after only two minutes when a Freddie Hyatt corner was headed into the net by top scorer Ian Hodges.

The makeshift Rebels side went further ahead after only sixteen minutes when an unlikely goalscorer Darron Wilkinson hit a shot into the back of the net to double the Rebels lead.

Horsham then pressurised the makeshift Rebels defence and had some good chances to pull goals back with the best of these falling to Stefan Ball but he shot wide.

In the second-half Horsham again started the match brightly and in the early stages it looked like the Rebels were hanging on a little. It took a wonder strike to score past goalkeeper Alan Foster though when Ahmet Suleymanoglu hit a half-volley from the edge of the penalty area that hit the post and went in.

It only took the Rebels a minute to restore their two-goal advantage though when Tony Boot picked up the ball on the edge of the penalty area and hit a sweet strike into the back of the net.

This effectively killed off Horsham's attacking threat and the Rebels added a fourth when Freddie Hyatt won the ball off the home defence, dummied the goalkeeper and shot into the back of the net.

It was a spirited performance that Rebels boss Eddie Denton would have been pleased with as it was far from the Rebels manager's strongest line-up.

Rebels: Foster, Spencer, Bartley, Murphy, Brown (Gilkes), Steer, Hyatt, Wilkinson, Hodges, Boot, Miller. Not used: Bakshian, Braich, Haddow.
