Comfortable win for us today without being at our best.  Hit the woodwork twice and missed two one-on-ones in the first half, but we got the job done, which is the most important thing.  I was impressed with the Winslow no9 today (Jason Costello I was told) - ran his socks off and if Winslow are going to move up the table they could do with keeping him on board.  I thought their manager showed a bit of class in defeat too.  Not easy when you are on the receiving end, but he seems realistic about the job at hand and I'm sure they'll pick up points if he can add one or two - the supporters/officials I spoke to were also a decent bunch.

Reb's scouting report on Tring Athletic was spot-on.

Looked dangerous down the wings but didn't have a striker to put the endless excellent through balls and crosses away.

Not as bad at the back as we were expecting but scoring 4 away from home isn't easy so a very happy journey home for the Bluesfans.

The clubhouse at Tring is fantastic and have some great beers from the local brewery too.

Southall 2 Hatfield Town 3 (Attendance -  27 Headcount)

A very even first half that ended 0 0.

Southall started the second half the better team and took the lead but from that point on Southall sat back, were second to the ball, gave the ball away far to much and fell asleep ;)  and Hatfield Town took their chances and their 3rd goal was a lovely lob over our very own Dominic Cassells. To be honest Hatfield Town didn't look anything special from what I saw today but they are a hard working team and I was impressed with their number 11 he looked lively at times.

This Non - League Football legend played for Southall today :D

And he should have scored to be honest

I have to agree with everything your saying. It was a great finish, which is easy when you have so long on the ball in front of a keeper. Elements of my defence let me down big time today, far too square to the ball, so effectively 3 through balls killed us, when in reality we were dominating the game and deservedly went ahead.

I respect Hatfield for their work rate, and they beat us fair and square, but i am surprised how well they are doing in the league, as they really didn't look that special at all, except for the 11 who had good movment and ball control. I'm sure Tuesday will be a much sterner test, but i'd be very surprised if they are still at the top come the end of the season.

I hear good things about WGC from every team who's played them, so that's where my money would be.

I wasn't at the game when we beat Hatfield in the FA Cup, but the people who were there weren't all that impressed either.  I guess the test is when they play the Welwyn's and Bedford's who are looking the sides to watch.  We have Broxbourne, Bedford, London Colney (in the Vase), Langford and then Hatfield, so those games will give us a good idea of where our credentials are at.

Welwyn haven't played anyone that strong as yet (no disrespect to those they have played!), but the fact they've scored so many and conceded only two means whoever finishes ahead of them will probably go close.  Division One is certainly shaping up nicely though.

Looks like this weekend was dominated by officials decisions.....a very poor one was present at Cockfosters!

I saw that it was all kicking off on twitter, even the St Mags manager got involved, not sure if that's the best idea. Pete the Greek, interested to know, do the officials ever go on twitter to see what has been said about their game?

What was so bad about him anyway Monkey8?

Yes. Many will go to see what is written about their games and not just on Twitter.

RH

Could be here a long time and also get into big trouble!

Bang on penalty in the first half which he waved away till he see the linesman flagging...no complaints from Cockfosters.

2nd half a SM player went in very strong on the Fosters number 7..this was clearly a booking but nothing this then leads to another tackle and the Referee had lost control.

A foul in the Fosters box and he gives an indirect free kick to which the whole ground were shaking heads at. Even Fosters Gaffa said it's got to be a penalty.

After which every tackle from any player is a booking!

Gives a penalty to Foster after a clear foul on the SM centre half!

SM gaffa finally has seen enough and loses it and gets sent to the stands.

Graham Poll was at the Tring vs Hertford Town game and he wasn't impressed with the ref at that game either when I chatted to him post-match.

Personally, I didn't think he was too bad actually!

To balance the debate - thought the referee in our game (Broxbourne vs Stony) was excellent. Made good decisions but, what is more important to players, communicated well all game - always allowed you to talk to him if you were civil and answered you like you were an adult (not always the case). Apologies, don't know the name of the ref in question, but well done!

Karen, or indeed anyone -- could you tell me who the two Clean Slate players sent off at Brimsdown were?

I have no idea who they were but your club secretary should know on Friday when the weekly FA list is sent out

Steve Harper is his name a very good player with 7 goals to his name this season.

A great point from Oxhey Jets on Saturday and they are creeping up the league table and another goal from E.Casey im very pleased for him and I will be surprised if he doesn't get 20+ goals this season for the Jets.

Let's hope he has an off-day on Saturday as I want a Hertford Town home win for my 40th birthday celebrations!

Heaven forbid that your birthday celebrations are dampened by the opposition not reading the script  :P
