Lord Upminster
We made hard work of it twice having to come from behind and against nine men. Two cracking goals by Thomas Gogo and Reece. A full first team was put out last night with the exception of Mott and Bentley. Excellent penalties from our lads, Styles, Davis, Omar & Marshall katung. Eastside Urchin
The second sending off was towards the end of the match so it's a bit dramatic to say we came back against 9 men, when I believe it was 2-2 when he was sent off and we only played against 9 for 6 minutes
Lord Upminster
Match report taken from the Halstead Gazette “It was heartache for Maldon and Tiptree in the Essex Senior Cup as they exited the competition on penalties. Nine-man Maldon were level at 2-2 at full-time with visiting AFC Hornchurch on Tuesday night before losing in the penalty shoot-out. Maldon took the lead on 12 minutes when Nathan Koranteng turns inside the area before firmly firing home. But Hornchurch levelled on 27 minutes when Thomas Gogo curled a shot in the bottom right-hand corner from 25 yards. However, the Jammers went back in front when a deep free-kick was half cleared to Koranteng whose second of the night is deflected in on 38 minutes. But Hornchurch pulled it level in the second half when Reece Beckles-Richards’ lob dropped inside the far post on 60 minutes. Five minutes later, Maldon were reduced to ten men when Marcus Rose received a second yellow card. The Jammers then went down to nine men when Alberto Pinto was cautioned for a second time on 86 minutes. But the match ended in a draw and went straight to a penalty shootout. And it was the Hornchurch who went through 4-1 on spot-kicks. “
paokman
Brings back memories of when I lived in Halstead back in 1969, house cost £3,300. I actually played a game for Halstead reserves, we lost 9-0 and I scored an own goal. Never got asked again, no surprise. Think they only asked me to play cos my house backed onto the pitch and they wanted me to give the ball back when it landed in my garden.
