Red Bear
I see that county leagues, step 7 have rep sides. Herts going close to winning the Inter-Rep league last year. Also with arguments and debates all over the land about what step 5 leagues are strongest, wouldn't it be good to have a knock out competition? Who would be your starting XI from the SSML? Either Step 5 or 6, are there players in division one that could play?
Rebadiah Hongfield
I don't think it would be a good idea, just more fixtures in an already fixture heavy season. Rep football is good for kids, not really an adult thing in my eyes. And if there were such a team, no div one players would make it in.
thehappysunfan
I am all fir it if I am honest!, would like to see our boys competing in a cup other than domestic and it would be nice to get the odd away day away from the wife!!!!!!!. Personally I think it shouldn't be just for county teams
NeutralFan
There has been an SSML rep side from Div 2 in previous years, if i remember rightly it was basically The 61FC!
Munchkin
The problem has always been the league's unwillingness to enforce participation from other clubs. Hence it was basically 61fc. The Tring Corinthians manager tried to run it, but gave up through lack of participation from other clubs. I believe the Herts County League postpone any clubs games from whom players are selected. I think for Division 2 it is a good idea, it would not work in divisions above especially if players are being paid or on contracts.
syd_lexic
We did it in the ESL for 2 or 3 seasons where an ESL select xl would take on the League champs at the end of the season. I was lucky enough to be in charge for the 1st season & we took on AFC Hornchurch & beat them. Looking back it makes you realise what a strong league the ESL was back then. The choice of players I had to to pick from were at Concord Rangers, Burnham Ramblers, Romford, Barkingside, Tilbury, Brentwood etc. All clubs that have made the step up.
