andydick
Good run out for a Hornchurch side that included a mix of experience and fringe / youth. Mott, Homans, Bentley and Curley all rested; Tuohy on the bench. Still had the experience of Beckles, Styles, Purcell as well as Davis as he returns from injury. Uneventful first half, couple of chances for both sides, best of which fell to Beckles whose header was well saved and follow up cleared of the line. Hornchurch controlled the latter part of the first half and most of the second though ETU did field a number of youngsters / reserves given their FA Cup tie this weekend. Couple of the ETU players subbed second half looked like they were taken off so they'd be able to go home and do their homework. Well worked first goal, Gogo cross headed in by Beckles. Purcell wrapped it up on 90 mins. Good to see Goodacre back playing (had an excellent game for ETU). Nasty injury to Osei towards the end, looked a bad one, lad was in a lot of pain. Hope he recovers ok. Next round .. away to Thurrock.
theessexboy
Did look a really nasty injury to Manny Osei, only been with us since the start of this season and has been strechered off three times, poor sod. ... Completely innocuous tackle, just one of those things that happen from time to time I suppose. .... Will keep you updated. As for the kids, yes eight of last nights Rocks squad will be playing at Royston Town tonight in the FA Youth cup !!!! Just one more meeting in a few weeks time, we'll miss you ;-)
cup of tea
Goodacre - good player but a bit injury-prone for us. A win is a win I suppose and it got some players a run-out but the league is far more important. As we found last season, the FA Cup is more important so I don't blame ETU for not putting out a full-strength side.
theessexboy
As promised, and update on Manny Osei. ... Injury not as serious as we first feared. ... All that was broken was his shinpad.
