Hx 0 Hendon 2

cup of tea

Recommended Posts

We seemed to be deflated after the efforts on Saturday, that was painful to watch on occasions tonight.

Hendon are well organised and seemed to control the midfield.

Felt sorry for George and Martin, we just couldn't get the ball to them in positions where we could hurt the opposition - high balls are not George's forte.

Set play and an individual mistake cost us tonight. Ref seemed hell bent on not booking any Hendon players though - their No 5 should have been booked long before he actually was. No complaints about the sending off unfortunately.

Positives - not many, good shot from Alex well saved by their keeper and a brilliant save from Sam late on.

We need to show the same effort we did last Saturday against Bognor.

Agree with most of the above, but my take on our current position is why doesn't the management team make tactical changes. As Starkey has gone, tonight we should have put Alex Bentley back in defence (he doesn't look comfortable in midfield), pushed Chris Bourne into a midfield position and see how it went. I can't understand why Sam Mott gives the ball to a defensive player and that player then hoofs it upfield completely missing the midfield players, when he could just kick it to the same place. We are capable of playing football but the management seem content to leave things as they are. DEBATE?

Oh dear…………….. Again

A fair result in the end, the score line could have been far worse.

No point blaming the referee (despite being awful) we ourselves created very little.

Another sending off and another suspension looming together with our injury list does not bode well

I don’t know how but Jimmy Mac needs to "pull a rabbit out of the hat" soon

Personally, I think there's one or two players that have come in that maybe are not up to the standard we need, that and the mess with the lighting didn't help anyone.

Changing it around - Personally I think you'll cause as many problems as you fix.

These are the times where you need to get behind the team and the manager and just hope it turns around for you. We have to accept that we're in a relegation struggle at the moment and we're going to have to work hard to dig ourselves out of it.

Couldn't get to the game last night due to work over running an hour or so,so can't comment on the game itself but I did follow it on Twitter and it does seem that discipline is contributing to our woes.

I see "yellow card for descent"

"Bourne squaring up to hendon no 2"

"Red card"

As annoying as it is,that's the only things that stick with me from my viewing twitter last night.

Things are obviously bad at the moment in terms of results and performances but the management must be pulling their hair out at times when players are getting needless cards and sending offs, just walk away as ultimately these end up costing the club

Cant fault the effort but quality was always going to be lacking against a fast powerful Hendon side our discipline didnt help and by halftime i knew we wouldnt end up with eleven men think its a case of keeping morale up that was all of the top three teams we have played at home and no coincidence we have lost by the same scoreline an individual error and basic defending cost us last night there number wont have an easier game in the air all season the ref was dire but had no affect on our own self destruction last night

Agree with a lot of what's been said ...

Lots of energy and commitment last night but at the end of the day the people we have got in are simply (in many cases) not as good as those they replaced so as a team we are significantly weaker.  The results and performances reflect that.

Didn't understand Bentley in midfield and Bourne at left back.  Starkey departed, so the squad dynamics have changed so we need to adapt.  We didn't.

Dissent is a major problem but much of that is due to frustration and conceding / losing.  Hendon, in a very Kingstonianesque fashion, made the most of every bit of contact by playing dead but we should rise above it.  We didn't.  Joseph was wound up to the point he lashed out; Bentley, although he was being thrown all over the place, reacted badly and rightly yellow carded.  Bourne squared up to their right back.  Two stupid challenges from Johnson.  Ridiculous lack of discipline throughout .. but as I've said elsewhere when all the management does is shout and scream expletives and bemoan every decision that goes against them, it's hardly surprising the players follow suit.

Not going to Bognor but let's hope they show an improvement there.

You are so right about Kingstonian.

Kingstonian are dodgy on the pitch and certainly at home have got a problem with a few feral fans off it.

I won't be going back there even if we do play each other next season (i.e. we get promoted!!!)

I am going to defend Alex at this point - He was given a torrid time in midfield and was fouled right in front of the referee who ignored it.

It was totally out of character for him and I don't expect that he would react that way again. Can't defend the others though. I think that Frankie did well to defuse a situation in the first half.

The players have got to be aware that they are letting Jimmy down if they get involved.

The management don't shout any more expletives than any other management team ive heard.

It's football,it's a passionate game and has happened and will continue to happen, the same as it happens on the terraces the whole length and breadth of the country.

We would all be moaning about a managers lack of interest if they weren't shouting and hollowing every 5 minutes

Agree with a lot that's been said.  To me Hendon are a good, strong, 'influential', savvy team that also try to play some football.  On what I have seen they won't be far behind Maidstone and Margate.  Really important phase next where, of our next 16 league games, 12 are at home and only 1 (the last one) is against a top 5 team.  So quite a few vital six pointers.

Back to bottom of the league and on last  nights showing that is about right,  all a bit of a shambles , how  many  times  we launched the long ball to  the tall hendon  number 5 ,was  a bad joke  , not sure about swearing  keeping familes away  think its more likely to be the way  n which  we  play nowadays   . other  than  the shoot from alex  in the  first half the only other  highlight  was sams' fine  save towards the end of the game  which  stopped the 3rd hendon goal
