On two minutes Hornchurch took the lead, when Chris Bourne made the running down the left wing, and crossed into the middle for George Purcell to slot home. Play was largely confined to midfield, with both teams having an equal share of the ball, until home keeper Charlie Horlock made a poor clearance, and the ball fell ideally to George Purcell who promptly placed it into the back of the net from 40 yards. It was almost a third goal three minutes later when Elliot Styles headed over from an Alex Bentley free kick. When Omar Beckles was booked when he conceded a free kick, ten yards outside the area, the defensive wall was well placed to block the resulting shot. Shortly before the interval Chris Bourne ran through and his shot was tipped over by Horlock for a corner, which was cleared. Two minutes were added on for stoppages but there were no further first half chances, but nine minutes into the second half, Courtney Homans made a good run on the right and his dangerous cross was converted past Horlock by Michael Peacock to put Hornchurch three up. Harrow had a good opportunity to get back into the match three minutes later when they were awarded a penalty, but Sam Mott dived to make an excellent save. Hornchurch came forward again, and Frankie Curley played through to Martin Tuohy, whose shot was wide of the post. Harrow made a double substitution but it was Hornchurch who created the next chance when Homans again opened the home defence with a fine cross to Chris Bourne, who fired his shot over the bar. Back at the other end, Mott was again in action with an excellent save, when he turned a goal bound shot out for a corner, which was comfortably cleared. Tobi Joseph came on for Purcell, Elyon Marshall-Katung for Tuohyl, and Frank Griffin replaced Chris Bourne. The three-goal margin made it seems a comfortable win, but the defensive line kept a clean sheet, with Sam Mott arguably the player of the match for Hornchurch. Thomas Gogo and Frank Griffin were both booked in the final minute but there was no further scoring and Hornchurch took three well-earned points.
