cup of tea
I think in recent months that I am concerned about the way this forum is going in terms of what you can post on here. I would never say anything about Colin , Jimmy, Ken etc. - They pulled this club back from the brink and have continued to manage the club effectively often under trying circumstances. I honestly believe that AFC Hornchurch would not be here today without them. I would like to think that if I did have an issue with them then I would have the decency to say it to their faces rather than hide behind a keyboard. My issue is that if you have an opinion about a match or say something that isn't acceptable to someone then you get criticised and basically told to shut up. This isn't an official forum, it doesn't represent the club or even the supporters association but it's for the fans and anyone else who has an opinion. I often try to get the balance right between what I really feel and what I feel I can post, but sometimes that leaves me feeling that I make posts with one hand tied behind my back. Obviously if there's comments that are slanderous or sensitive then they need to be taken off - the club always offers the fans to discuss any issues with them, and also you need to be careful that you don't post something in the spur of the moment that you later regret. However, if you take the right to have an opinion away then this forum will become stagnant and become a waste of time as far as I am concerned. obis
A little while back I remember posting inviting proposals and comments from supporters and the club officials with an idea called 'Operation 500' It was meant to initiate some ideas and see what could be done to get to 500 attendance figures. (Whilst I realise that that figure was optimistic). All we've had recently is an aggressive and negative forum which is contageous in itself. I've witnessed fans frustrations and interest in the club deminish. The Eastside is more or less non existent and we are more likely to reach 150 than 500. Wise up, cheer up
missunderstood
I suppose the choice is between having a "have a nice day self congratulatory forum" (like Romfords), or a vibrant one that keeps interest in your club alive through the hard times. Ian_W
Rest assured as site owners we do not limit the freedom of speech. Obviously some clubs try and control what is publicly said of them. I know from first hand experience being told what to and what not to say on unofficial sites, and trust me it is not nice!! (not Hornchurch BTW) Sometimes however we do have to step in and remove posts where a complaint has been made, more usually by the subject of moans, but this is very much the exception rather than the rule. As long as you are not libellous then we are usually happy!! Now if a club wishes to have a tight control and censor all the speech, then they can, but that usually serves no purpose for anyone. After all, would you be censored in what you can and can't say on the terraces? Of course not, you would simply take your money and go elsewhere. Of course bad language and threats on the terraces could well be against the law and the same laws of the land apply here. All that said, it is the moderators who might have to get it in the neck from club staff. Just bear that in mind.....
Eastside Urchin
I've always advocated free speech but I will tell people to bugger off when they talk garbage about getting rid of the manager, like someone suggested the other week. They are perfectly entitled to voice their opinion, but I and others are at the same time entitled to tell that person and others where to go
cup of tea
That's the point - It's sad that someone said that about Jimmy but it gives the rest of us the opportunity to explain why that comment was so stupid.

Lord Upminster
"Prawn sandwich brigade" Who was it that said I quote “ Away from home our fans are fantastic, I'd call them the hardcore fans. But at home they have a few drinks and probably the prawn sandwiches, and they don't realise what's going on out on the pitch. ” Come on You Urchins....................
