DIVISION ONE

2-1 Harpenden Town v Stony Stratford Town

A report on this one from another Forum by a 'Sussexhopper':

SSMFL Div 1

Harpenden 2-1 Stony Stratford

Admission £5 inc Programme

Head Count 40

No food or drink purchased

Basic set up at the back of a sports centre/tennis courts with one bit of cover and a few seats.

SS started better but Harpenden scored after 10 mins then took control and doubled there lead on 20 mins with a cracking effort that went into the very top corner.

Just as the game was dying out Stony got a pen with 20 mins left and converted it while Harpenden were down to 10 men with a second yellow. Soon after SS hit the bar and then Harpenden hit the bar. Ref was a bit card crazy and then lost the plot by sending off two SS players that were on the bench for what could of be foul and abusive language towards the Lino. Ironically the two players he sent off were brothers.

Decent tick spent in the company of Mr Sealant and Mr Bysouth where topic of conversation was retro clothes and trainers!

LANGFORD 2-6 CODICOTE

14th plays 15th, but the gap in class was much wider as Langford were no match for their visitors.

First (and possibly only) visit of the season to Forde Park and nothing's changed - the burgers are still excellent with real cheese - I was the first to ask for one, so they opened the pack specially :) and having confirmed I'd be taking my hot drinks outside, received them in plastic cups  - perhaps they'd lost too many of the famous Langford mugs.

Also in attendance were Mr. and Mrs. Meyrick of the Crawley Green parish having a closing-stage chat with a Langford official whose diatribe over the current paucity of Saturday fixtures seemed a little unfair.
