Slough v Ardley

Shame about Witham. Looked excellent in spurts....

After pre-season I was impressed with Alex and thought he was going to be a big player for us this season.

I think the bottom line is, when players get their chance, they need to make a statement to the managers to say 'pick me' and to be brutally honest I don't think Alex did that.

Given time I think he could have been a good player for us but it's a shame that perhaps he wasn't prepared to wait.

Incredibly poor today. I know the fa cup isn't important to us and staying in the prem is.... but that was embarrassing. Do not blame Dobson at all for his outburst, his shoulders must have been tired as he was "carrying" the team most of the game.

Also never a pen so in essence it could and should have been 2-0. Their keeper made some decent saves but how easy was their second goal??

Also why were so many of out players out to give intentional fouls near the end??? We were losing and the clock was against us.

Really really missed mcclurg short and Witham today. I have faith in the managers (they been spot on before) to turn it around but this was just bilge.

Mom Dobson also a decent performance for Moran.

Perhaps that should have read 'as important to us as staying in the prem'

After two excellent performances against Weymouth and Poole today's performance was shocking. One of the worst from a slough teams in the last few years. IMHO only Moran, frith and Dobson can come away from today's match knowing they put in an average performance. The rest need to re-watch today's game and make sure they never play like that again.

If we play like that in the league we will get beaten and if we had played like that against one of the top teams we would get absolutely spanked.

With that said it is time to move on and leave this performance behind us. We can start to fully concentrate on the league and get back to playing to our potential.

COYR the season has only just begun. Only bigger and better things to come.

I do like to criticise a ref but I thought apart from the pen (and maybe not booking the guy that did dobbo near the end) he was pretty spot on throughout.

Obviously we watched a diff games I thought he was appalling and clearly from lower league so many mistakes

Khan..... What ever 'fans' said being back the old team were either drunk or talking out if their bottoms don't get me wrong I miss some old players more on a personal level but not on the field! I would not change our players maybe add in but not change they will come good just like last year! I trust our managers 100% and can't believe any 'fans' would want our old team back!

OMG to say a player doesn't want to play is absolutely bloody ridiculous some of you need to get a grip !!!

Don't agree Marcus thought the ref was terrible and missed a lot today including a direct elbow in the face on Reece, not saying that is why we lost.

Its a pity we can't all be perfect like a lot of you lot !

Fair play. Yes I forgot the elbow!

Not sure I agree with you Marcus. Whatever happened in the past is irrelevant, we have gone up a league and costs are much higher and yet we are still unable to generate the revenue having our own ground would allow us. A little cup run would have taken a lot of pressure off the chairman. Bitterly disappointed with the performance yesterday.

I think most clubs would place league first and the FA Cup second in terms of priority but the money you can generate in just 3 rounds (around £15,000 in Slough's case) is tremendous for any non league club. With our homeless situation we more than most would have welcomed that cash and I'm as disappointed as anyone with the result yesterday but it's in the past now and we need regroup and focus on 3 points v Bideford.

Unfortunately our fa trophy draw is potentially as tough as it could be at this stage so prize money could be hard to come by there as well

Having not been at today's game can't really comment on what went on yesterday

All I fear is that we need to make sure this winless run is ended soon. Can get in danger of forgetting how to win almost. Generally it doesn't seem to have affected the players confidence too much but would be a much needed boost if we can get 3 points next week

Anyway now we have pretty much told the players they are all sh*** except Moran, Dobson and Frith who  were average according to one post I would just like to say incase the others are reading.....

Reece mate, you battled well you battled and won most of the headers against a giant, you spilled blood for the cause, along with Guy and Sean  there was at least half a dozen occassions where one of you were the last man and won the tackle or intercepted.

Scott you battled well mate.  To all of you we are missing a lot of chances and that is a massive problem and when they start going in you will all get the confidence back and the football will flow.

Us fans will always moan but you did us proud last season and i am sure rather than criticise the managers will use their motivational powers to bring the team to gether and get that confidence back.  We have been on bad runs before but you will get through it.

COYR keep going and support the team

Agree with you,Stuntman Mark.

Yesterday's performance was an embarrassment and I know Bakes and Unders will be hurting by it.They were as frustrated by the players efforts as the fans were.

In my view I felt we boobed on team selection and the shape of the team and I thought that before we had kicked off.

The management hands were tied with who was available to play,so understand their selection but think they missed a trick when picking a Cup team to a league team. Bringing two new centre midfielders who hadn't played 90 minutes for Slough was always going to be a gamble.

Ryan Scott had a game to forget and didn't look as good as his cv suggests.Adrian Sear looked like he is getting over an injury,he had a poor first half but to his credit rallied somewhat in the second.

Having another injury crock in Gareth Risbridger is not the answer for a sub.We would be better to have a couple of cheap alternatives in young players on the bench than injury ridden players.

For me though we should have started with a 3-5-2,a positive attacking formation from the start against our lower opponents.Sometimes we should pick the team to suit who is available and not be so conservative especially in cup games, when it is winner takes all.

My team would have been

Sommers

Moran Hollis Yorke

Fraser[wing back] Edwards Sear Dobson[wing back]

Frith playing as an advanced link man between midfield and attack

With Smith and Thomas up front.

Not a lot different to the personnel that started yesterday's game but a darn sight more exciting and attacking minded for a cup game.If we are going to be beaten in an FA Cup match let's at least take the game to the opponents.

In cup matches you need flare and players who have pride in the Slough shirt and want to be a Slough player. Not loan signings or one offs.

On this note think Ed Smith needs to buck his ideas up,as the way he skulked and sulked when he came off when subbed was pathetic and exactly what wasn't warranted at the time. The managers were entitled to replace him,as he,too, had a game to forget.

Maybe not being involved in the cup will ultimately be good for our Premer League survival and standings but there's no doubt that our untimely exit is a kick in the teeth financially to the club.

Playing shit for one game and being shit are vastly different things.
