One question though - I thought it was going to be a 150 seater stand, rather than 50 seater?

Or has the rest not arrived yet?

Great news. It means I can bring Little Miss Happy even when it rains now.

With regards to increasing the size of the stand I feel that we need one major sponsor who would be prepared to part with £15,000 to fund the remainder. The stand could then be named after that company (or individual). If any of you work for a large company then this could be a really good marketing initiative. Look at the publicity Reebok have as a result of the Reebok stadium. THERE MUST BE A FOREWARD THINKING COMPANY OUT THERE!

Why only one Sponsor? If we had more than one it might be easier to raise the extra cash we need.

From NLD website

Eastway Essex Senior League champions Enfield Town took a giant step towards bringing their shared Goldsdown Road home up to the standards required for

promotion when they took delivery of their new 'stands'.

Despite the appalling weather, the contractors wasted no time in installing covered terracing behind one goal and fifty of the required seats along one side of the ground.

The remaining seats are to be ordered as soon as funding permits, with the club confident that they will be in place early in the new year.

Meanwhile, groundshare hosts Brimsdown Rovers have begun work on the turnstile block and will soon have the new toilet facilities ready for use.

Enfield Town manager Jim Chandler said: "Modest though it is, the ground looks like a football stadium now and I hope that having some seats and cover at last will encourage a few more people to come along and watch us."

Sorry to bore on about this, it's ben discussed countless times, but.....

I thought that the funding for the 150 seat stand has been secured from the FA groundy standy fundy people, and the only reason we are holding back is due to the uncertainty about the structure of teh non-league pyramid for next season. If the ground requirements for the next league up, whatever it may be, are less onerous, then we may not need the full 150 seats yet.

This however would not make sense if funding has been secured - why not do it anyway, and it is cheaper to do it all at once rather than in 2 or 3 phases. Am I correct in believing that the funding is conditional upon promotion being secured, and will only fund the improvements necessary for the league to be entered?

Obviously that too makes no sense as you don't know who is to be promoted by 31st March!

Clarification from the board please?

The understanding is that the Ryman League ground criteria will not change between now and next season, hence 150 seats being required if we are to make the step-up.
Regarding the funding from the FSIF, they will only fund any work needed to bring a ground up to the standard that is currently required, hence the 50 seats that are now in place at Goldsdown Road. They will, however, fund any improvements should we be promoted, which is fine but, and here's the catch, the Ryman League will not allow a club to be promoted until the work is done. Catch 22, I think you'll agree.
The remaining 100 seats are to be financed through other sources, but there is little that can be said about that at the moment. Negotiations continue but please bear with us while we sort this matter out.
In the meantime, there are plenty of other jobs that need doing around the ground and any volunteers will be welcome on Sunday mornings at 10 am. Bringing the ground up to the required standard involves a lot more than just having the right number of seats.

Thank you Pete. Of course I'll bear with you (no choice anyway!) - I know how much you're all doing, I just wanted to clear it up in my own mind. Yes, a ludicrous Catch 22 situation - let's hope the league(s) and the funding people can get together to sort out this anomaly, even if it's too late for us, for the benefit of other clubs.

Good question LS!
