ellers
This coming Friday the Lammas welcome Barton Rovers to Short Lane in the next round of the FA Cup, Kick off is at 7.45pm Adults £5 kids go free. Would be good to see as many people as possible from the CCL cheering on the lads.
Tel
Friday night football! Excellent idea, whether forced or not. It may be the only Friday football in the area. Will be a bigger crowd than if it was played on Saturday.
thevoiceofreason
Might get a few spotters in who are lurking in the area , as was the case in the last round. They'll probably have bought all the programmes by 6.30and be discussing the finer points of Dog and Duck v Rose And Crown ... but their fivers are worth as much as anyone else's, so I guess everyone wins. Smudge
Judging on the last round 155 attended on the Friday, only 82 on the Saturday at Short Lane.Wonder if Knaphill v Badshot are thinking of having a Sunday game?
ellers
I think you can only change the date if you have a valid reason and ours is that Ashford have a home game against Daventry on the Saturday in the FA Cup.
thevoiceofreason
Of course, that would be right. Heaven forbid someone should devise an idea to increase their revenue or local interest. ( But if the hungry monster called TV wants feeding later in the competition...the old farts in suits will do their fawning and roll over for them, as always!) Chris Clapham
We would like to play some (if not all) our games on a Friday evening but we need the consent of our opponents and quite right too. We had 31 v Windsor and 40 yesterday v Epsom & Ewell, two of the better supported CCL clubs! It is tough going up against AFC Wimbledon (especially), Fulham (going well ) and, even, Raynes Park Vale (easier access for floating fans) home matches on a Saturday. Tel
Chris, I know Saturday travel is easy and trying to negotiate some of the busy roads on a Friday night might not be too easy. But if teams can arrange a fixture for a Friday, I am sure the reverse fixture could be reciprocated
thevoiceofreason
A break with routine always ruffles feathers, but it isn't thousands who will be a part of any experiment, just the average crowd number plus officials at this level. As with any trial, it can be pulled, if it isn't having the desired effect and as long as everyone kicks off at the same time at the business end of the league season, what does it matter? I have no idea what players would think, if Friday evening games were given a go, but I think there's a chance of picking up a few paying guests who might spend Saturdays watching other football, especially if they live locally to a club in this league. Cookie10
I am sure the sussex league try and get games on most days of the week, well they used to but not sure if they still do. I think it's a good idea

This game has been mentioned on nonleaguematters but if you'd rather groundhoppers didn't go, then just let them know. Only thing putting me off is the M25 round that stretch is usually a nightmare on a Friday evening.

As long as they keep quiet and don't rustle their anoraks too much and witter on about programmes, admission fees, etc their money's as good as anyone else's, including that of an interloper like me
