today v billericay

not bad was it ?

Obviously read the glowing reports about the etu performance-but never get too excited as what is usually lacking is an element of consistency.

well having witnessed a really good performance today against a decent billericay team -one can start to truly believe-it wont and can't happen every week - but two very good performances on the trot provides some sort of consistency .

equally always said the gap between ryman and conference is massive, and whilst TB has said the players assembled could perform at that level-took it with a pinch of salt-but to be fair-that performance today would have held its own against some conference premier sides.

Credit to TB and SC for gettig this going.

most impressive for me,was the way the players worked and ran to find themselves space to receive the ball;and i maintain that it was against a decent side who margate made to look indecent and chase shadows.

I'm not sure whether billericay allowed margate too much space;or whether the margate players were simply too good at finding space.

whatever-it was impressive all round

things i also liked:

the pitch -looked great and liked the square mowing patterns !

programme comments from Mr Laslett-hope the ladies team do really well and similarly climb the leagues-you have to start somewhere and no reason why they can't challenge arsenal ladies in about 8 years.

the weather-so rare to have a game played in benign conditions-made it a pleasure to watch-and probably play in those conditions.

half time subs 'warm up'-refreshing to see Stuart doing proper drills-at this level-so many teams treat it as a simple kick around-thats so tin-pot.the guys get paid a bit-so at half time-they should see it as work and do some decent drills.

as posted elsewhere-attwoods goal was a bit special to say the least.

margate won both halves-professional that -so easily to get complacent when you go in 3 goals up (not that it happens often) and let the other side dominate the second half

so now-only need another 41 points to avoid relegation-should be doable

Attwoods goal was the best i have seen in over 15 years of watching the Gate! Had my doubts when he came back, but the guy has worked his socks off. This team is playing beyond expectation. I look forward to each game, expecting and see'ing good footballl!

Lewis Taylor..... Why i thought to myself did we sign a player from a team at the bottom of the league?! The guy has been absolutely the most consistent player, even out of position!

I thought young Bennett was superb and was my m.o.t.m though Zaks unselfish play was a big plus for him. I too was concerned about him but he is showing good form now. Well done both of these players, indeed well done the whole team. Excellent, and as Michael says two games won in the same manner = consistency, the major factor to winning anything.

We will miss Nick tremendously (no disrespect intended to his replacement). He has won us games from the back and without him the replacement will need minding and that will nulify our strengths a little by having to do that.

I sincerely hope Nick is fit for the next game I really do otherwise results might be harder to come by though with the experience and skills we have on the pitch it shouldnt really pose too much of a problem. Just prefer the best keeper in the division as our last line of defence thats all.
