Plenty of other countries seem to survive without America on side, and why exactly do we need them onside - The last major security issue in this country was from the IRA and we all know where the USA stood on that one, hardly by our side!

In fact by being an ally of the USA we've actually made our country less safe. I don't see France worrying too much about random terror attacks on Paris.

From www.thesun.co.uk ...

ONE thing comes over loud and clear from the remarkable interview George W Bush has given to The Sun.

He is not the ignorant, trigger-happy warmonger that protesters will claim he is.

Bush is an intelligent, thoughtful and compassionate man for whom war is the last resort.

His enduring love is peace and the freedom it can bring.

The President is positive the world is a safer place than it was before America and Britain took action against Saddam Hussein.

He will tell the families of British troops killed in Iraq that their loved ones made a sacrifice for a noble cause.

They have made it safer for our grandchildren to grow up in a free and peaceful world, says Bush.

He answers those who question the need for war on Saddam by saying it would have been much worse to have sat and done nothing in the face of threats from cold-blooded killers like him.

The Left has its own agenda which will set the vicious tone of this week’s demos across Britain.

These people hate America because it is big, rich and powerful and not afraid to do what it believes is right.

They despise the special relationship between our two countries and the trust and friendship that exists between Bush and Tony Blair.

The Sun supports their right to protest — that, after all, is a vital part of liberty.

But we could not disagree more profoundly with the way they twist the truth and prey on the doubts of reasonable people.

We defy anyone who reads President Bush’s words in The Sun today to say that America is anything other than a tremendous force for good.

We are proud to associate ourselves with his vews.

And on behalf of our 10 million readers, we extend him a very warm welcome to Britain.

I've highlighted the paragraphs which apply to the loons on here!!

I've never read so much rubbish in all my life, His enduring love is peace and the freedom it brings!

Read what we've already said on here about the world being a safer place now - it isn't, if it was they why are we closing London down for 4 days. Our grandchildren are far from safe!

I don't hate America, I think they are a country bottle fed on fear and that is the administrations fault and it's not up to them to do what they think is right. I'm sure Hitler thought erradicating the world of Jews was right.

As for being intelligent - check his IQ

As for compassion - Check the hundreads of prisioners without any rights in Guatimalia Bay (or whatever its called)

The father of the youngest UK soldier killed in Iraq says George Bush is meeting the families of British troops purely for his own gain.

Robert Kelly, whose 18-year-old son, Private Andrew Kelly, was killed in a shooting accident in Basra, says Mr Bush and Tony Blair do not care about the deaths of British troops.

He said: "For these people to meet families, it is only for their own gain. They are not sympathetic towards people like me. They don't really care that my son lost his life.

"Tony Blair doesn't care. He doesn't care about anyone. So what does George Bush care about our families and my family? He doesn't care."

Mr Kelly was speaking as it was revealed Mr Bush would meet relatives of British soldiers killed in Iraq to tell them they died for a "noble cause". He will also offer them the sympathy "of the American people and the prayers of the president" and tell them "that their loved ones did not die in vain".

Mr Kelly said he had not been invited to meet the president, and did not want to. He told the BBC Radio 4 Today programme: "It would not mean anything to me. I am not American so I can't really judge the American president like our Prime Minister."

Private Kelly, of 3rd Battalion The Parachute Regiment, was killed on May 6. His father, 53, had earlier said he did not think the war was justified and questioned whether Mr Blair would have gone to war if his own son would have been asked to fight.

Mr Kelly, from Saltash in Cornwall, is himself a former Chief Artificer with the Royal Navy, and was in the Armed Forces for 24 years, during which time he served in the Falklands conflict. He said his son died for a cause he believed in and did it "bravely and he gave 100%".

But he said more should have been done to avoid the war. Saddam Hussein could have been removed in a different way and war should have been the last resort. "Tony Blair should have listened to his own people," he said. "A lot of people were against the war."

Zealster.

It troubles me that you believe that garbage. You did in the weeks before the Allied invasion of Iraq, but the tone was different then. Weapons of Mass Distraction and links with International Terrorism as I recall.

Strange that. No reference to those particular reasons to invade any more.

Let's leave all that on one side.

Look at the current situation in Iraq. Did the two lunatics anticipate this level of chaos? Yes or no?

this top quality thread is spiralling out of control as all top threads do.. its to ungainly now to wade in with a cutting riposte so i recommend some insults!! ;-)

2 points i would like to pick up on..

1.'its their money' so they can spend it how they like like is bang on ESG also its my money, why do i have to keep giving it to socialist tossers to spunk up the wall on total bollox..

2. AFF , i liked the way the royals always joined the military, seeing as people where fighting in their name it only seems fair, playboy andy did his bit in the falklands by all accounts, this could have been bullsh.t but no rumours of him being 'protected' ever came out.. ok eddie let the side down a bit but then he is a mincing little luvvie.. but seeing as its the govmnt that send troops into war now maybe their kids should be encouraged to do the decent thing and join up.. that euan looks fit enough and likes a beer, might do blair some good to have to worry like the parents of other squaddies do..
