SloughRebelBoy
''Voiciferous fans, most of whom probably don’t remember Slough as a big club" I'm 35, so only started going to W*xham Park in the early 80s with my dad when I was 6. I assume that this in reference to the Godolphin days? I always thought we were seen as a big club in the 80's, but as the many stories I have been told by 'elder' fans, you can't beat the Godolphin days supporting Slough. missunderstood
I'm amazed Romford and Chelmsford City failed to get a mention. In the 60s and 70s it was easily the biggest fixture in non league football, and regularly attracted crowds of 8000 plus.

HEAVY TRUCKER
it is not godolphin just dolphin named after the pub which backed on to the ground and you could watch a match from a balcony it had, there was also a greyhound track around the pitch. Don't remember the pub having a balcony, I wonder if you are confusing it with the Supporters club house which was next door, many a good time spent in there. Used for weddings, dances and of course match days and other private functions. Also from there was run a daily ticket draw which was sold in their thousands ,so well known that the numbers were printed each day in the Evening News and Evening Standard.
