RebelDelaney
I was hoping to read all about Slough's great start to the season after getting promoted after 24 years on the BACK PAGE of the Observer. only to see it's all about Reading FC what a disgrace why don,t they rename it the Reading Observer this is a kick in the teeth for the REBELS. This just shows that we will be losing out on the main headlines and publicity during the season on the most important page of the paper.

Reading Rebel
In respect that I think most football/sporty people ( I know I do) look at the back page first, I certainly agree with RD that Slough Town Football Club should be on the back page as well as the inside pages of a Slough newspaper and not a football club that's 20 miles away. Having said that, I think that most weeks we are on the back page but for some reason, despite it being the start of our biggest season for a number of years, they've decided to have Reading FC on the back page instead. Perhaps the Observer sports editor thinks there's enough Reading supporters in Slough to justify the amount of coverage they give.
Martin
They'd do better with Chelsea news on the back page using that logic. But agree with RD we should always be on the back page of our local paper during the season
Ian
Even more so given there's no Slough Jets to report on.
Rebel Sue
I agree in fact I have got so angry in that past I have rang the editor to remind him it is the SLOUGH Observer !
RebelDelaney
In the next couple of weeks as the season progresses we will be third in line with major reporting in this paper behind Reading and Wycombe on the most important page when trying to recruit more supporters to our club. Hammer_rebel
Thought the two page article was great , well done to Rob Stevens - Sure after we beat Banbury we will be on the back page again folks calm down Again? Should always get the back page! It's the slough observer thought the 2 page was great BUT I still think the back should never be reading? They have their own local paper
Chris
Just so people know, I spoke to the editor Tim Cole about this. This wasn't intentional as there were some internal transport & equipment problems, which meant as deadline approached they had to get a back page story over to the external printers and had no choice but to send the Reading back page story edition as that was already finished and the Slough edition wasn't finished (the Slough Observer is part of Berkshire Media Group, which also publish the Reading Chronicle). Both Tim & Rob Stevens were as unhappy as anyone else this happened and hope it won't happen again.
Sir Rebel1965
To be fair to the Observer on their website of the 13 football related stories 6 are about STFC, with 1 for the mob south of the Thames but still with a SL post code, 1 for the recently relegated team in the wilds of Whitley, and 1 for the village team with no points - the rest are for lower level teams. So with STFC actually being recognised by the local paper for there success and the local team with the best record so far, why don't the Observer sponsor the teams shirts, that way it is a win-win situation, the team who gives the observer the most news stories and fills most pages gets the support needed and the paper gets its name in all the photos it prints in the paper. GlenSTFC
Good shout Rebel1965, the Maidenhead Advertiser have this season become shirt sponsors (for 3 years I think) of Maidenhead United. If the Slough Observer were able to do the same even just for a season it'll show a lot of goodwill and support.
