cup of tea
Disappointing. I think we just didn't get going today - replicates the start of last season against Lewes. There were glimpses, particularly at the end of the first half of what we can do. Sure we'll get better but not the start we were probably hoping for. Typically, it was Lewis Smith that got the winner. Appalling penalty take from East Thurrock at the end.
Miss.A.F.C.Hornchurch
The only credit that i will be honest about and give East Thurrock was that the better team won on the day. But when they play the likes of Kingstonian, Margate, Tonbridge, they will get battered. We didnt look at the races today, but after all it is only the first game of the season, it will take a few games to get going. Last season we lost our opening game in a similar situation, but look where we ended up. We had a good season and was a league we shouldve won, in my opinion, we didnt only because we dropped silly points. A long way to go yet. League is not won after one game!! urchinman1961
whatever you think of Lewis the script was written for him today one minute brilliant the next an idiot but if he had an Hornchurch shirt on today we would have won
Mr short
Thoroughly disappointed from all concerned. Play a high tempo passing game in pre season, looking like a real top team and getting results To a very direct brand of football and looking at best average As the saying goes "you do the Maths"
Mr short
Players and management need to be brave this season. I don't believe that they were even a good side today,we played into their hands by launching it..
Wivenhoe Urchin
There were times where we looked good as Simon says but we fell short. Too many times the ball was just lobbed to Martin and there wasn't any connection to create a chance to score. The best times were when we slowly passed it about and got Junior and others on the attack.
shrimper
fair result in fact ETU could have scored a few more what with the missed pen' and the shot that came down of the cross bar that seemed to be going in , we seemed 2nd best all day to be honest and martin isnt a target man for the long ball , after the subs came on we seemed a little more dangerous and there was a bit more running with the ball ......a plus was that sam made some very good saves still things can only get better ..(cant they )
urchinman1961
no team can be judged on an opening game or pre season friendlies should have a better idea 6 games down the line we are always there or there abouts at the end of the season
Eastside Urchin
I don't think we've ever been particularly quick starters.
