Enfield Town v Kingstonian

The BIG day has arrived and we are back to the serious business.

Town have done well in our pre-season friendly and there is genuine cause for optimism that we can do well this season.

Very best of luck to George and the lads today as we go for a win and three points this afternoon.

Let's hope for plenty of vocal support from the Enfield Ultras and the rest of you Towners.

Good luck everybody. Enjoy!!

We all knew it was going to be a tough game. What is alarming is that we could not close the game down. I accept that at 1:0 after 13 minutes and, apparently, more organised than Kingstonian we should have continued to look for goals but when they equalised 5 minutes later surely the defence should have received more support from midfield. Then we equalise again in the second half but do not close the game down. We were undone by fast runners from deep.

Strange game..Corey was excellent again and put away his two goals very well..Kingstonion's first two goals were from a corner and a free-kick..The last three were counter attacking breakaways from their own half..Most of the game was played in Kingstonions defensive half.It seemed the only time they entered our half was to counter attack and score. They offered no sustained pressure or possession in our half. What does that prove?? That currently we are defending set pieces poorly and we are vunerable to long straight balls and pacey forwards.(Is this because of lack of pace from our own centre backs, playing too high a line? or lack of communication from the keeper?)..Very poor debut from the new keeper it has to be said.

I'm sure George will get things to improve quickly .We didn't look fit or play as a team.Maybe we should look at a longer run of pre-season games next year (and encourage players to take holidays in the gap between end of season and friendlies stating -if they can-,rather than during  the friendlies.)

Stan-lee look solid .Offered some presence and simple accurate passing.None of the other newbies really impressed.Stevens had a very poor game by his standards.

i think we should have Corey,Kirby and Tyler as the core of the forward line. With them playing up top in a three (or with another forward such a Hope joing them) depending on formation and tactics.

Its one game!......... Against a top side with McCollin, Hammond and Pinney (sub) they have three very good forwards who could easily play in the Conference South or higher.

Stanley looks a quality player.

In George and Brad we trust... onwards and upwards to Harrow on Tuesday.
